Let’s take a look back at some of our top performers for the month of August!

Jesus Luzardo was named NL Pitcher of the Month and had 1.31 ERA with 46 Ks in 34.1 IP.

Reid Detmers is having a career 2026 campaign, outpacing his previous season high strikeout totals at 182 with a little under a month to play. In August he struck out 29 in 30.0 IP with a 1.50 ERA, and an impressive 0.97 WHIP.

Bryan Baker currently leads the MLB with 39 saves with 9 of those coming in August. In 11.2 IP he allowed 8 hits, struck out 15 to the tune of a 1.54 ERA.

Medina Luis continued building on his success in 2026, the best year of his career so far. He struck out 17 in 11.2 IP with a 1.54 ERA.

Ryan Gusto continues a solid sophomore campaign as he tossed 28.2 innings in August, collected 23 Ks and allowed just 5 earned runs.

Michael Wacha in his age 34 season has thrown an MLB leading 176.2 innings in 2026. After being named an All Star for the first time since 2015. In August he was 3-0, threw 32.1 innings, with 25 Ks, a 2.51 ERA, and stellar 0.84 WHIP.

Excited for these guys to finish out their seasons strong, and to get back to work this offseason!

We're excited to welcome our newest member of the sports science team

Ben joined the team as a strength and conditioning and hitting analyst after completing two internships at CSP-FL in the Spring and Summer of 2026. Originally from Hingham, MA, Ben earned a B.S. in Applied Exercise with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from Springfield College. He has experience working with athletes across all levels in both collegiate and private settings, where he developed a strong interest in using data and technology to enhance athletic performance.

Join our growing, tech-forward performance team working with athletes from middle school to the Major Leagues.

You’ll run pitching consultations, break down video and data, write throwing programs, and get hands-on with cutting-edge tech in our new biomechanics lab. Loaded with motion capture, force plates, Trackman, and Edgertronic cameras.

-Baseball experience required
-Comfortable with pitching tech & modern analytics

A few members of the CSP strength and pitching staff hit the road this week to evaluate baseball players at Xavier, Akron, and East Carolina.

These visits are not a walkthrough. We assess the whole picture:
• Movement quality and range of motion
• Hawkins force plate jumps
• Hawkins dynamometer shoulder ER / IR
• 1080 resisted sprint testing
• Catch play and bullpens

From that data we build warm-up, mobility, and arm care routines for the roster. Then we sit down with coaches and individual players to share what we saw and how to keep stacking the odds in the program’s favor.

Please join us in welcoming Madison Machado to the CSP-FL Staff!

She will serve as an administrative assistant at CSP-FL. Madison was born and raised in West Palm beach. She attended Palm Beach State College and received an Associate’s degree. After ten years in the restaurant industry, she was excited to transition to the sports world. Madison has played and been a sports fan since she was a young child, and still loves being active and in the sun!
