And as you gear up for this weekend’s celebrations as well as other fun summer holidays, take a moment to consider your safety strategy for hosting (or even just attending!) these events.

For pool parties or gatherings taking place near water, specific supervision of children is especially important. All too often, we hear of tragedies resulting from a mistaken belief that "someone else" was watching.

Please remember that the layers of safety you have in your own home may not always be in place at a neighbor's or friend's house and a momentary lapse in supervision is all it takes for tragedy to strike.

Wow 15 kids have already lost their lives to drowning this year in Florida. Although it is better than the 21 last year at this time it is STILL 15 TOO MANY!!! Two of the most recent I know about are from families vacationing in Florida from another state so if you are reading this and think it doesn't pertain to you because you don't live in Florida you are wrong!!!

Drownings happen all over the country EVERYDAY!

You might travel with your family to our state or another that has water everywhere!

Drownings can happen in INCHES of water and in a matter of SECONDS!

They are completely PREVENTABLE!

1 - Effective ADULT supervision. NEVER LEAVE A CHILD UNATTENDED IN OR NEAR WATER!

2 - Doors/Windows locked and alarmed at all times.

3 - FENCE THAT POOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 - Quality self-rescue swim lessons

5 - Remove/lock pet doors

6 - Learn CPR

This little guy is back for his refreshers and doing amazing! It is very important that you bring your child in for maintenance and refresher lessons. As their bodies grow and change their skills need to be tested. Thank you Isr Brittany Angulo for saving so many lives!
