“New year, new you” is NOT what we’re about.
As I look back on my years as a coach, judo player, and most recently a BJJ player, I see it’s the number one rule taught to me by my coaches that I pass on.
I am early in my BJJ training and my coach reiterated what I know to be true and he said:
“Training once per week is better than no times a week, twice a week is better than once a week, three times a week is better than twice a week… You get the idea?
Me…”Got it, so showing up consistently is going to get me there?”
Coach… “Yes. And having the right mindset that the more you put in and the more you show up, the more you’ll get out of it.”
Bingo. It’s not new year, new you. No magic pill. No magical day.
It’s about consistency.
It’s showing up.
For yourself.
For your loved ones.
It’s you doing what it takes to be your best. And guess what that means?
Tomorrow, you get better.
And the next time you show up?
Yep, you get better.
