To be clear, many of these athletes did not need any influence in the classroom. Their academic success came from their own discipline, personal responsibility, family support, and teachers.

But that is exactly why it deserves to be recognized.

This year, we are proud to recognize:

22 Student-Athletes with a 4.0+ GPA
10 Student-Athletes with a 3.5–3.99 GPA
8 Student-Athletes with a 3.0–3.49 GPA

40 student-athletes recognized in total.

I graduated high school with a 2.1 GPA.

At the time, I did not fully understand the long-term impact of my choices.

Digging a hole Freshman year that became overbearing to climb out of.

This used to be embarrassing to talk about but I share this in hopes that the impact can influence a positive change.

That experience has shaped part of the mission.

Yes, we train athletes to improve performance.

But the bigger goal is to help develop the next generation.

Young men and women who understand that showing up isn't only on the day of competition.
How they handle responsibility matters.
How they build habits matters.

Performance is not only measured by training results.

Long overdue announcement.

New Coach Niki Campo started onboard at the beginning of the year and now has her book open for new clients.

Niki brings a passion that aligns with how we build athletes. Everything starts with understanding the individual. Then building from real data, not guesswork.

She brings a great understanding for Human Movement with a Science in Kinesiology Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She is in process of completing her Massage Therapy (LMT) Program from Elgin Community College.

Check the link in the bio or her IG page to learn more

With Niki joining, we’re opening up 10 complimentary spots for the Senaptec Sensory Assessment.

This is where most athletes are missing out.

Vision. Reaction time. Processing speed. Decision-making under pressure.

These are trainable.

And they directly impact performance on the field, ice, court, etc.

We will continue to use advanced assessments to identify gaps and build programs that actually transfer to sport.

If you want to:
• React faster
• Track better
• Make quicker decisions under pressure
• Separate yourself from your competition

Start with this assessment.

Only 10 spots available.

Performance starts from the ground.

Your big toe — the 1st MTP joint — is one of the most important joints for force production.

Many athletes chase power in the weight room but ignore the structure that actually delivers force into the ground.

Look at the anatomy of the foot.
Below the ankle you have:
- 26 bones
- 33 joints
- Over 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments

That is roughly 1/3 of the entire skeletal system concentrated in the foot.

A complex system designed for one purpose.
Force transfer.

Elite performance starts with a strong and mobile foot.

Athletes who move well usually have feet that can both absorb and transmit force efficiently.

The big toe plays a critical role in this system.

During sprinting, jumping, and cutting, the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint (1MTP) must extend to allow the foot to act like a rigid lever during push-off.

Target mobility benchmarks often look like:
~95° big toe extension (1MTP dorsiflexion)
~30° ankle dorsiflexion

When these ranges exist you can:
- Create stronger push-off during acceleration
- Maintain arch stiffness through the windlass mechanism
- Transfer force efficiently through the foot
- Reduce compensations at the knee and hip

When they do not exist, the body finds another strategy.
You often see:
- Early heel rise
- Collapsing arches
- Knee valgus
- Reduced sprint and jump efficiency

The big toe is not just another toe.

It is the final lever that converts strength into speed and power.

If you want better performance, start where the body meets the ground.

Train the feet.

Restore big toe motion.

Build strength from the ground up.

Pay Attention to the Intention.

The difference between counting reps and making the reps count.

Intent drives progress.

Every rep is not the same.

Every set is not the same.

Every rest period is not the same.

Two brothers putting in the necessary work.

4 ArmCare Strength Tests.

Numbers that shape smarter arm training.

Why testing matters.
You remove guesswork.
You train with intent.

The 4 tests.
• Shoulder Internal Rotation Strength
• Shoulder External Rotation Strength
• Scaption Strength
• 3-Finger Grip Strength

Why this matters for baseball.
Throwing loads the shoulder and elbow at extreme speeds.

Stability and force must work together.

What testing reveals.
• How well the rotator cuff produces and controls force
• Scapular strength that supports arm slot and arm health
• Grip strength tied to ball control and force transfer
• Weak links that show up before pain does

How this changes training.
Everything becomes specific.

Examples.
• Low scaption strength → targeted scapular loading
• ER deficits → cuff strength for deceleration
• Grip weakness → forearm and hand strength for throwing efficiency

Custom data leads to custom plans.

Built for pitching volume.
Built for position demands.

Spatial recognition is the difference between tenths or even hundredths of a second.

Reaction time slower than 0.3 seconds gets exposed as the higher levels.

If it takes you 0.2 seconds to visually track your target and another 0.2 seconds for your hands/feet to respond to that information the you are already late.

That gap shows up when speed increases.

That gap decides outcomes.

You may not lose because you are slow.

This can be from the link between perception and action.

Train these tasks in a state of fatigue that you will experience.

Train what you see.

Train how fast you decide.

Train how quickly your body acts on that decision.

General Strength & Conditioning matters.

But the speed relationship of perception and action can set the ceiling.

What happens to your performance when every decision costs you three tenths of a second?

5 years ago today the Starke Industries LLC was formatted through Legal Zoom. 10 months before that the decision was made to go independent as a trainer to focus more on 1:1 and small group.

One of the original missions was to bridge the gap between the Medical and Fitness Industries to optimize Human Performance. With the intention to become a reliable resource others can depend on as they attempt to tread the murky waters of Health & Performance.

2020 wasn't the best time to make any transitions in the Fitness industry as it was considered "Unessential". The industry alone wasn't highly respected. Health "Experts and Professionals" enforced lockdowns, mandates, and widespread medical interventions — measures that reshaped public health policy, daily behavior, and trust in authority.

The personal health decisions made, caused division between family and friends. Being ridiculed, deemed as a risk towards another's life just for making a decision you believed was right for you.

With that decision made, opened up a level of responsibility that challenged evidence to back it up. Evidence that could only be validated by testing. An extensive amount of Biochemical testing. These were biological and often invasive or minimally invasive.

At first this was a blurred experience as the General Physician at the time ordered a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP). The doctor said the biomarkers were "Good" and that was it.

But "Good" was compared to the general population, with very broad ranges with very minimal action steps.

Why weren't we chasing Optimal?

This influenced a rabbit hole of further testing looking at much finer windows and more ideal ratios.

That’s when it became clear most people aren’t sick — they’re just under-tested and undervalued in their health.

Optimal performance starts with knowing what’s going on inside your body, not guessing based on symptoms or how you feel.

When you measure, you can manage.
When you understand your data, you can make better decisions.

If you feel like you're missing something, hitting a plateau or just looking to establish a baseline set up a consultation to discuss how to set up a comprehensive blood and biomarker testing — the foundation for real performance optimization.

If you want to train smarter, recover faster, and perform at your peak — it starts by getting the full picture of your health, not just the highlights.

Hydration usually stops at "Oh, I drink enough water".

How much water?

Is just water enough?

Is your water even clean.

Here's a blog that goes into a little more depth regarding hydration.

You’ve heard it before: “Drink more water.” But Paul Chek’s third pillar, Hydration, goes way beyond that. Hydration isn’t just about how much you drink. It’s about how well your body absorbs and uses fluids — a system supported by filtration, minerals, amino acids, and daily habits. L...
