As a firefighter for the last 14 years, 8 of those in a high volume department, I understand what the job takes. I understand the repetitive strain it puts on your body. No matter where you are in your career, I want to help you achieve your physical fitness goals.

5 Mistakes to avoid while dieting

🍽️ Choosing a diet that doesn’t align to your lifestyle
There is no one diet superior to another. Choose a diet that is sustainable for you.

🏃🏼‍♂️ Expecting fast results
Dieting takes time. Stick with it and you will see results.Consistency is key.

🍩 Food restriction
Excluding certain foods instead of incorporating them into your macro targets with a focus on healthy moderation may result in cravings and binge-eating episodes. Only to put you back where you started.

⌚️ Adding back your calories burned from exercise
Devices have shown to overestimate calories burned by 28-93%! That means if you burned 500 calories, your device might tell you that you burned 630-1000! This could easily take you out of a calorie deficit.

🥅 Setting unrealistic goals
Audit your goals and determine if they’re realistic or not. If not, modify it to make it more easily achievable. Remember, we are working to build a new lifestyle and not a quick fix!

“You can eat a whole pizza and still be someone who takes care of their health. You can do zero workouts while on vacation and still be someone who takes their training seriously. You can doggedly defend your "me time" and still be someone who fulfills their obligations.”

Mike Mathews said that and it couldn’t be more true. It’s ok to enjoy life and still care about your health. So what, you had a “bad” night or weekend; you don’t need to punish your self in the gym with your workout to make up for it. My goal for my clients is to be able obtain long term health and fitness. Go out enjoy life, enjoy the time with family and friends, then go back to your regular workout the next day.

So you want to lose weight, but don’t know where to start. Here are some tips that can help!

Start with small changes
-In the begining, focus on making better choices or eating two balanced meals a day. If you take away everything you enjoy, you’re more likely to fail! Starting small makes it far easier to get into the groove of healthy eating habits.

Prioritize your protein (as I’ve told my wife hundreds of times)
-So many people under consume protein on a daily basis. Protein keeps you feeling fuller longer and higher protein diets are great for losing weight!

Be consistent!
-Being consistent with the changes you make will help you obtain your goal easier. If you’re making healthy choices for nearly every meal, you can feel free to indulge when you go out to a nice dinner or want to have a slice of birthday cake.
