Well it was a down and later a better weekend closing out our 2026 World Series of Top Alcohol Flat series.
We started on Saturday with a buggie ride of a pass. Horsepower timed in at the wrong time hopped the boat out of the water and I clicked after the third hop after when the situation wasn't improving.
We only ran a 7.15 putting us 4 out of 4 boats.
We then talked about it and knew the only way to get there was if Jeff Steward (Flat H ammered ) was taken out in first round and we ended up winning the event. So we sat out the rest of qualifing and planned for our first round match up with Jeff on Sunday.
Sunday, Crew Carol Schuler, Glen Schuler and Tim Eagle sent me on my way and nailed the set up. I never considered drag boat racing a game of inches but boy was I was wrong! I gave it everything I had and Jeff stepped up big time from his previous run and hung on to beat us, and win the Championship by a distance of just over 6 inches. Congratulations to Jeff and the Flat Hammered team for battling hard all season. This team is a class act and a lot of fun to race with!
Special thanks to my team of Crew Chief Glen Schuler' Carol Schuler, Tim Eagle along with Kathy Eagle and Judy Lebon for keeping us hydrated and fed! We were short handed this weekend and this group made it happen!
Our TAF season comes to an end making our last pass of 5.32 164.24 our most complete pass in the last couple years. A good way to end this portion of the season.
Now we will race in the Pro Outlaw Shootout in November at Lake Ming. Wish us luck!
