Understanding your traumas, triggers, patterns and wounds is an important step in healing, but does not automatically resolve the survival response attached to it. Nor does insight alone help our nervous system feel safe.

You cannot cognitively override a body that still believes it's in danger. The mind may know "I'm safe now." But the body may still be bracing for impact.

Healing begins to deepen when the body is fully included. We complete the stress response through movement & regulation, felt sense of safety, connection & embodiment.

Somatic (body-based) healing work is so effective for self aware women because helps complete what cognition alone cannot.

As a somatic practitioner, I support women in burnout, chronic stress & overwhelm to complete the stress responses stuck in their body, feel & process suppressed emotions and live safely inside their bodies again.

1. Filling every moment of free time with mindless scrolling. It feels like a break, but really we are consuming more info than we can absorb, spiking dopamine, and furthering disregulation.

Instead, take a moment just to breathe, walk, lay down, nap without devices. So much more nourishing for your system.

2. Multitasking everything you do. Again, this is a recipe for overstimulation. Instead of working and eating, walking and listening to your podcast, driving and having a phone call, do one thing at a time for a while with your full presence. Take a few moments to pause and take a deep breath between tasks. This helps with overwhelm.

3. Moving through everyday tasks in a rush. You brush your teeth in a hurry, clean the house like it’s a sport, rush eating, get antsy in traffic, rush walk through your office at work. These moments for everyday activities can be moments to move with intentional presence and give yourself a mental break instead.

4. High intensity workouts like HIIT and power lifting. Movement is necessary to heal from burnout to discharge the stress in the body. But too much intensity spikes cortisol and adds to the stress. Move regularly but don’t overdo it. (Join me for my Movement Alchemy class on Tuesdays for a somatic workout that hits the sweet spot!)

5. Overriding your body’s cues. Often burned out women have a habit of disregarding their body’s needs. Practice listening again. Sleep when you’re tired. Go to the bathroom as soon as you need to. Hydrate and eat when you feel your body needs to. Practicing listening rebuilds our relationship to our body.
