Don and I are moving from Pagosa Springs to NM. We're selling the cabin and are actively house hunting in western NM for a summer home. We'll still spend winters in Elephant Butte, NM. EB is too hot in the summer so we're looking for a home in the western mountains to enjoy cooler summers.

This means I'm finally retiring!!!

45 memorable years in Aquatics! So many kids and their families continue to enrich my life (some of "my kids" have kids of their own and a couple of you have grandkids!) Such a rewarding career! I will miss it, but feel like I've fulfilled my lifelong commitment to teach and coach people of all ages to love to swim. Someone recently asked me how many kids I've coached/taught. Thousands and thousands! I've always said that the kids taught me more than they will ever be able to say they learned from me.

Too many people to thank. My mentors, head coaches I worked for, my assistant coaches (especially Doug, Will and Kathy Grady), instructors, athletes, learners and their parents who supported, encouraged and uplifted me. The swimteam parents of Snowfox Swimteam, Colorado Springs Swimteam and the Rockrimmon Swim Club did all of the behind-the-scenes hard work that allowed me to focus on coaching. I can't begin to imagine the amount of driving you all did, how many hotels we all stayed in, how many of you kids went on to teach or coach swimming. BJ Bedford, Olympic gold medalist and 3-event world champion, you not only taught me how to swim Backstroke correctly, but you taught me how Backstrokers need to train. Backstroke was always my weakest stroke to coach. You helped change that.

It has always been such a privilege and an honor to teach kids and adults to swim and to be able to coach swimming athletes who had such a keen passion for their sport. I loved the recreational, developing swimteam kids as much as the elite performers.

I learned I am a terrible Aquatics Director (Farmington, NM and briefly in Meeker, CO). I MUST be in the water or on deck, teaching or coaching - not sitting behind a desk or in endless meetings, training staff who come and go so quickly, catering to the fickle public.

After I left coaching, I thrived best while running my own swim schools. I had some AMAZINGLY talented instructors and program coordinators. At a National Swim School Association annual conference, I was told that I would never have a successful swim school unless I got out of the water and stepped away from teaching. Glad I never followed that business model. I was never in it to make money and sure enough, I never did. I define success differently.

So, thank you to all of my supporters, learners & athletes along with their parents, instructors, professional peers! I am YOUR biggest fan! ❤️❤️❤️

A minimum of 6 lessons must be booked. There is no limit on the number of lessons you can book. Attendance is required for all sponsored lessons booked.

At the end of every day, the Calendar of available class spots on the www.CalmWatersAquatics.com website will be updated. Refer to it before requesting a date/time.Submit all booking requests through the website's Booking page. A confirmation email will be sent to you with an invoice as soon as possible. I am getting ready for a studio show in southern NM this week and am burning the candle at both ends.

I just found out that the Rec Center cannot accommodate my lessons program this summer. The Quality Inn pool has been permanently closed. In other words, I have nowhere to teach. Please try to get in to the Rec Center lessons (if you live in the PLPOA) before they completely fill up! I'm so sorry everyone! I'm out of options, unless one of you can offer up a solution. I just have to accept that it's out of my control. 😥
