As Pagosa Springs wakes up grateful for the much-needed rain overnight, many of us are checking on the Rio Blanco Fire south of town.

If you'd like to see current conditions from downtown, hop onto the Pagosa Springs Live Cam for the view from the roof of PJ's Fine Bamboo Rods. While it isn't a replacement for official emergency information, it offers a real-time look toward the southern horizon.

Please remember that evacuation orders remain in effect for County Road 335. Respect all closures and follow official guidance from emergency management.

A little fire goes a long way. 🔥

Torching the bamboo is the first of three heat treatments used in our rod-building process. Each carefully controlled step strengthens the bamboo, stabilizes the fibers, and gradually develops that rich caramel color that makes a finished bamboo fly rod unmistakable.

It may look dramatic, but this is precision work—equal parts science, tradition, and knowing exactly when to pull back the flame.

📖Book Review: The Feather Thief
By Kirk Wallace Johnson

We absolutely love this book! The Feather Thief is a fascinating true story filled with obsession, history, mystery, and one seriously unbelievable heist.

You do not have to tie flies—or even fly fish—to get completely pulled into this story. It is entertaining, thought-provoking, and one of those books you will immediately want to recommend to someone else.

Highly recommended by the PJ’s crew. Pick up a copy in our Pagosa Springs shop or order it through our website.

🎨 Art Walk is this Friday at PJ’s Fine Bamboo Rods!

Stop by from 4:00–7:00 pm to visit with Nada Waski, watch Dan Dempster create a live painting, and enjoy complimentary cocktails while you explore the shop and workshop.
