I had never dreamed of a white picket fence.

I dreamt of the wild

Of children who knew canyon walls better than shopping malls.

Of muddy shoes, scraped knees, campfires, and sunsets that lasted longer than screen time.

High Desert was never just my dream.

It became ours.

Today, Tyler guides alongside me.

Ember is the heart behind the scenes, making sure every adventure begins long before you hit the water.

And Quinton… he’s still my apprentice; learning every trail, every knot, every lesson the desert has to offer until he’s old enough to guide beside us.

High Desert isn’t just family-owned.

It’s family-built.

And if you choose to adventure with us, you’re becoming part of a story that’s been unfolding for years.

Welcome to our wild. 🌵🤍

Our latest blog is live.

What if the story of Glen Canyon isn’t about what’s being lost…

…but about what’s returning?

Returning America’s Lost National Park explores restoration, the Colorado River, and a different way of thinking about the future of Glen Canyon.

I’d love to hear your thoughts after you read it.

🌿

A reflection on Glen Canyon, Lake Powell and the living landscape that reappears as water recedes.

Some moments don’t need a crowd… just the right person, a kayak, and miles of canyon.

Keeping this one on the low. 🤍🛶🌵

Katie Lee said the only thing that stopped her from blowing up Glen Canyon Dam was that she didn’t know how.

We’re not blowing anything up. But we are building something — a community of people who have stood inside this canyon, felt what it is, and understand what we stand to lose.

The Colorado River is one of the most over-allocated, under-protected waterways in the world. Glen Canyon Dam was the beginning of that story. Its removal — or bypass — could be the beginning of the river’s recovery.

We believe that’s possible. We believe it starts here. With you. On the ground. In the canyon. 🌵🌊

Come on a tour. Become an advocate. Help us free this river.

Free Glen Canyon. Free the Colorado. 🪨

We've been getting a lot of questions about why we'll be closed July 1st–6th.

The answer is simple: we respect the canyon.

The week of July 4th brings some of the heaviest boat traffic of the year to Lake Powell. In Glen Canyon's narrow waterways, large wakes bounce off canyon walls, collide with one another, and create unpredictable conditions that simply aren't conducive to the peaceful, immersive experiences we're known for.

Rather than fight the chaos, we choose to wait for the water to settle.

We'll be back on the water July 7th, when the canyon finds its rhythm again.

The rock will still be red.
The water will still be blue-green.
And it'll be worth the wait.

🏜️💙
