The Alaia is a pre-20th century style Hawaiian surfboard, the roots of which span back well over 1,000 years. Unlike contemporary boards, it's very thin, fl

exible, and finless. Still, the timelessness of it's ancient design, and the know-how of generations past make this board capable of outperforming conventional surfboards both in speed and maneuverability, especially in moderate to smaller surfing conditions. It does this gracefully, too. As it doesn't have fins, it's the rails of an Alaia which hold it into the face of a wave. Leaning away will unlock the rail & allow the board to spin, slide & plane, allowing it to do things that a finned surfboard just can't. Alia are very thin boards. Ours are between 3/4" and 1" thick at the thickest, and taper to almost 3/8" at the rails. It's this design which gives them great flexibility, and that flexibility is one of the keys to an Alaia's performance. By shifting some weight forward when surfing the face of a wave, it's possible to give an Alaia reverse rocker, which translates into more (and graceful) speed. You have to pump a conventional board to get the same effect - especially in smaller conditions.

Fog Fest update:

Unfortunately, due to multiple factors, we will not be selling at Fog Fest this weekend. Our first booth was in 2015 and minus the 2 pandemic years when Pacifica didn't have the event, we've been doing this annually for over a decade (the biz launched in March 2015). So it's bittersweet for sure. In the meantime, we will be posting inventory here from now through the holiday season and taking custom orders as well. Check out the photos for some current items available.
We will also update the Etsy shop (link below), so please reach out if you'd like to purchase anything. We will miss seeing everyone this weekend but hope to have a booth again in 2026 or a pop up this Nov/Dec. Thanks as always for the ongoing support! We are forever grateful!

Small business Saturday is today!! We truly appreciate the support of our small, local, mom and pop biz. Free delivery in Pacifica in time for the holiday - see pics below for available inventory. Today from 11 to 3 we will be out in front of Sirens in Rockaway for their monthly shopping pop up. There will be a few other vendors as well, so it's a great chance to get your holiday shopping done. Officially open for business! Fog Fest 2024 has begun! Come by and say hi - corner of Palmetto and Carmel in Pacifica, today and tomorrow from 10am to 6pm. 3 weeks until Fog Fest - egads! Time has flown but we will be ready! Please spread the word and come by our booth - Sat and Sun Sept 28th and 29th on Palmetto Ave in Pacifica.
