Today was a double yay day!

Not only took Lil Frito out on his second big boy trail ride today but Hubby joined as Lady Belle's rider!

So proud of both horses and humans - I love this trail because it is not too long but is challenging in a technical sense - lots of rocks to navigate over and around, roots and logs to step over, plenty of step ups and step downs, sharp switchbacks, a VERY steep straight uphill and one very challenging downhill to a dried up creek in a ditch. I dismounted and led Frito down and across and he was such a good boy figuring out where his feet needed to go with absolutely no fuss. Hubby did a FANTASTIC job leading Lady Belle a less direct (and less steep) route under a fallen tree and up through the creek before climbing up the other side, all from the saddle! 😍

Welp, here's some data to back it up:

My tile floor reads 72° (so I know the thermometer is working correctly)

My sunroom floor is 91°
My driveway is 132°
The barn floor is 101°
Stall walls are 105°
And the beam over my barn door is at 108°

My horses are reading 101° when dry under their fans and 97° when wet under the fans 🥳 (and PSA: don't scrape the water off!)

🤩 WOW!

Took Lady Belle and Frito to the NEC for our last show of the year (Frito's second show ever) and couldn't have asked for a better one! This was a WDAA Recognized show and we succeeded day one getting BOTH horses qualified for the 2026 WDAA World Show! Frito is qualified in Intro and Lady Belle qualified in Level 1 AND LEVEL 2! My goal for 2025 was to compete in level 2 on Lady Belle and to just survive on "da baby" Frito and I can confidently say we have!! We earned solid scores between 65 and 70 all weekend long, but definitely have room for improvement on several maneuvers! Words fail to describe how proud I am of my horses and myself knowing I am now not just working on but succeeding on skills and maneuvers these horses didn't know how to do before I owned them. I am blessed beyond measure to have these magnificent creatures as partners. ❤️

As always, thank yous are in order!!

First and foremost thank you to my supportive husband. I could not compete without him. He took care of Beau and the barn kittens while I was gone, still made it up to the NEC to cheer me on Sunday, and helped me with my least favorite part of showing - packing up to head home. ❤️

Additional thanks to Cindy Butler for judging! I appreciate the clear comments on what to work on as well as always sharing a highlight or strength for every test!

January 2025 Recap:

Started off the year in TN visiting Beau and Lady who go down each year for training. I had brought them down beginning of December, and at that time was introduced to the cutest little solid black gelding. I had spent the rest of month running numbers, thinking through logistics, and changing my mind about every three days for weeks, but in the end I took the leap, signed the contract, and put down a deposit on Frito! 🤩

Got home just in time for ice and snow. While I am absolutely NOT a fan of ice, we did have some fun involving the side by side and a sled. 😘 Wh***ey enjoyed snuggling up with me as we stayed inside where it was warm while Richard went off on his annual ski trip.

At the end of the month, another introduction was made - this time to a small fuzzy puppy. As soon as she was old enough to come home, she did, and Gin joined the family 🥰

Lady Belle, Frito, and I had the most amazing show this past weekend at the The National Equestrian Center! It is such a a joy to compete wirh such amazing horses! 😍 Lady Belle was her usual perfect self - we showed Level 2, Test 1 both Saturday and Sunday (only our second and third attempt at this new level) and earned a 65.3% and 66.8% respectfully!

The only goal I had for baby Frito was us both to survive, but in reality we THRIVED 🤩. He kept his cool the whole weekend. We schooled Saturday instead of showing but absolutely nailed it when we went down centerline on Sunday. We did Intro Level Test 2 and earned a 63.33%! Could not be prouder of this boy! Gonna need to start wearing shades, his future's so bright! 😆

Had a fantastic time at the CW Equestrian Center, Inc. November show! A little chilly but still walked away with two great scores and the Adult Gaited High Point award for the year! 🤩

Huge thanks to my amazing supportive husband and also McPherson Photography Studio LLC for awesome photos!

And with that, the 2024 show season is officially over!
