It’s not too early to be thinking about New Years goals. With Thanksgiving this week, Christmas and New Years are right around the corner.

Fall climbing season is officially here! Have you been outside yet? Have you been able to crush like you were hoping to?

Have you made a list of outdoor climbs you want to try this fall?

It is always good to start thinking about what you want to try and project.

Then look at the routes/boulders and think about what you need for the climb.

Is it a slab and you need to work on foot work and technique?

- our climbing program teaches you both of those things!

Is it power and strength?

-out climbing program has a pre-climbing workout that is going to help prime your muscles for climbing while also workout on strength. We also include a day dedicated to strength that will help your build power and gain muscle.

Is it endurance?

- we’ve added one of our favorite drills for this. It’s called a burnout and will get you ready for a big wall or a long endurance climb fast!

Whether you’re a climber not, there are two things you should be focused on for nutrition.

Hydration. Especially during the summer months. It’s way too easy to to get dehydrated while working out. Most people think they are getting enough water, and yet over 43% of people drink less than 4 cups of water a day.

You should aim to to drink around 12 cups a day for women and 15 cups a day for men.

The other thing is protein. We see so many people, but athletes specifically who are not getting enough protein. Protein is essential to building muscles, recovery, and fueling your body with the energy it needs to workout.

The protein intake for everyone can be a little different, depending on your activity level, are you biking long distance, power lifting, etc.

Most people should try and eat around 1 gram per body weight.

If you weight 150lbs try and aim for 130-150 grams of protein a day!

Sometimes summer time can be hard to keep the psych up. If you are feeling unmotivated or burnout try to make up your own routes or boulders on the wall.

OR find a project, when you get stuck on it switch to using any feet around you, but keep the routes intended hand holds. Each time try to use more and more of the intended feet until you’ve made all the moves!

It definitely feels like summer in the Ozark, which means very few days to be outside climbing.

If you have been in a training cycle then take a few weeks off. It will help you physically and mentally. Then you can come back stronger and refreshed for your next training cycle.
