Nothing worth building happens overnight.

It takes showing up, putting in the work and continuing even when things get difficult. We see that kind of effort every day, parents working hard to support their families, instructors giving their time to help others and students learning that progress comes through commitment and consistency.

One of the things I love about pictures like this is that the martial arts technique is only part of the story.

Standing alone on the mat while your classmates, instructors and families watch takes preparation. It takes focus. It takes the confidence to work through nerves and trust what you’ve practiced. Those are the lessons we want our Junior students to carry with them long after class ends.

Our Junior Kenpo program for ages 7–11 gives children opportunities to practice listening, following directions, responding respectfully, working through challenges and supporting the people around them.

They’re going to make mistakes. They’re going to have moments when something feels difficult. Our job is to teach them how to stay focused, keep trying and discover that they’re capable of more than they realized. That’s why we say martial arts is about so much more than kicking and punching.

Our FREE Martial Arts Open House is happening Saturday, September 26, from 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Yes, the advanced techniques are really cool but nobody starts there.

Our beginners start by having fun. They learn a few basic punches, practice alongside other students and begin collecting small wins.

With consistent attendance, those small wins become skills. Those skills develop confidence. Classmates become friends and before long, a student who was once nervous to walk onto the mat is helping welcome the next beginner.

Your child doesn’t need to become confident before starting martial arts. Developing that confidence is part of the journey.

Please help us welcome Emilie, the newest member of our Junior Leadership Team! 👏

Emilie recently earned her purple belt and will begin assisting with our Little Dragon classes. She’s an outstanding role model who leads by example, and we believe she has the potential to become a really good leader. As she begins her high school journey, we’re excited to watch her grow and build confidence.

Emilie is going to be an awesome addition to our team. Congratulations, Emilie, we’re proud of you!
