Yesterday was a tough night for the SPM drivers. For Danny Cates and the Thompson Modified a solid 3 place run was in sights before the RR tire decided to start losing air. Danny limped her home completing ever lap but having to settle for 6th place. For Daltin McCarthy a respectable 5th place run for a car with a new motor and a new setup in it. We will work out the kinks and get both cars back up front next time out. Next race will be a Wednesday special at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on August 7th. One quick shoutout to Sid's View for the cool looking decals. If you haven't seen the Sid's view podcast you got to check it out. Sid, Diego Monahan, and the crew give great coverage of our local racetracks and do not miss the special hot seat guests which is sponsored by DRC Electric LLC (plug)😉 See everyone at the races! Thank you to Maranda Mccarthy for the photos!

The good and the bad last night at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. Another strong run put in by Danny Cates and the Sunoco Mod team. Danny finished P2 which continues his podium streak and keep us a solid 2nd in points. Great job by everyone on the crew; that win is coming we can taste it! That is the good, the bad is the results of the 34ma SK Light (See 3rd photo). Fast car all day, but just 3 laps into the feature down the front stretch the engine just gave out on us causing a car to get in the back of Daltin McCarthy which started a wreck. We feel bad to the others involved, is one of those racing deals that no one is at fault for, just wrong place and time for the motor to let go. Thanks to Stu McCarthy and his off-season planning we will have our backup motor in and ready for next race and the car fixed. Next race for both cars will be Thursday Night Thunder at Thompson July 25th.

Great time and beautiful day for the car show yesterday at Monaco Ford. We brought down the Thompson Sunoco modified and had a good time showing it along with all the other race cars. Also had a good time catching up with our fellow racers; huge thank you to Diego Monahan for allowing us to hang out in the Critical Signs tent for some shade. We are proud to be part of the Monaco racing team! Next event for Danny Cates and the Sunoco mod is next Thursday June 27th at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. Purse increased and so did the laps, we will be ready to get that 💰🏆!

Solid night at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Thursday. Both SPM cars finished on the podium. Danny Cates finished P2 in the 604 race. The last three races for Danny have been 2nd, 1st, 2nd. The 2 team in on a bit of a 🔥 streak! Daltin McCarthy secured 3rd in the SK light race earning his 2 career podium finish! Great result for both cars and great adjustments made by Steven McCarthy and Michael who had to tune on the chassis a bit but got them dialed in. We got two cars that are bad fast and we look move up a spot or two next time out. Thanks goes out to the sponsors who are a big part of our program and with their support we are able to run this well. Constantine Paving & Sealing, Monaco Ford, Made and Formed Foundations, DRC Electric LLC, Putnam Home Services, Mass Muscle Nutrition, Lone Elm Farm, law office of Meghan M McCarthy, Absolute Machinery Corporation, Absolute Robot, Absolute Haitian, Fabricating & Production Machinery, Inc., Champagne Toast Entertainment, and O’Malley’s Truck and Auto. We also like to announce a new sponsor coming on board the 604 program for Danny All Town Sanitation & Recycling LLC. Thanks to all the crew for their help as well. Next race out is Thursday June 27th at Thompson. If you like to see the 604 car up close we will be at next week’s car show for Monaco Ford at their Glastonbury location on Thursday June 20. Phots credits to Maranda Mccarthy.

What a weekend at the Magic Mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Fast all weekend, won the heat race and started P1. Danny Cates had to race hard over the entire feature to hold off many challenges including holding off one of the top young drivers in northeast modifieds in Tyler Barry. This was Danny’s first time racing at Loudon and what a way to remember it. This also marks a milestone for Steven McCarthy who gets his 300th win as crew chief/engineer. What a job Steve and Michael did this off season with preparing the car and getting it turned around from Thompson last week to Loudon. Credit to all the crew who made the trip up to help all weekend. Most of all we thank all the sponsors who made it possible to for us to park it in victory lane Constantine Paving & Sealing, Monaco Ford, DRC Electric LLC, Made and Formed Foundations, Putnam Home Services, Lone Elm Farm, Mass Muscle Nutrition, law office of Meghan M McCarthy, O’Malley’s Truck and Autobody. Thanks to Daltin McCarthy for taking all the photos and video this weekend.

Got it done today at Loudon

Danny Cates of Chaplin held off the challenges of Tyler Barry and Josh Carey through the final corner to win the 20-lap Sunoco 604 Modified feature Sunday at the Northeast Classic at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  “That was the most fun I’ve ever had racing a race car,” Cates said. “Tyler w...

Icebreaker 2024 is in the books and it was an up and down weekend for us. The weekend started with a host of changes to the 604 modified. Car was decent but we need a little more speed. Steven McCarthy and Michael put their heads together and they sure found it Sunday. Danny Cates was able to wheel the car to a 4th and 2nd place finish in the features on Sunday. Danny has had many laps at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park and that experience showed. First time out in a new division with new engine spec and rule we will take it. Big thank you to Douglas Cates Made and Formed Foundations, Constantine Paving & Sealing, and Monaco Ford for the funding to get the 604 to the track. For Daltin McCarthy the SK Light was fast all weekend until we hit the heat race Sunday. The car just went tight and we had to hang in there. With the quick turnaround between heat and feature we had just enough time for a minor change and it was not enough. Car was still just not able to turn. Daltin did his best to hang just outside the top 10. Unfortunately trying to pass for 10 the car snapped loose and we got tagged in the LF and shot back up to the wall and got our RF. Not killed but 2 flat tires and some suspension damage ruined out day. With the good run this past weekend Steven, Michael, Danny, and the crew will head up to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Northeast Classic this weekend to run in the 604 class. For Daltin, Stu McCarthy and the SK Light team with funding we try and make the sizzler if not we be back to Thompson for race 2.

Put the finishing touches on the SK Light last night and lettered the car with some awesome decals from Sign Techniques (come out to Thompson this weekend for the ice breaker and see how she looks). For this season Daltin McCarthy and the 34ma SK Light will compete full time at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park along with select events at Stafford Motor Speedway. Due to some off-season surgery to Stu McCarthy and cost of racing we have decided to run a partial schedule to begin this season. We are still looking for sponsorship so if you are interested in getting your name or business represented in racing let us know! If we can get some more funding we with increase the races we will run at Stafford Motor Speedway. For now lets go break some ice!
