Dear Oxford Volleyball Club,
As always, my goal is to be as transparent and straight forward with you as possible. As I’m sure many of you have heard, Infinity Volleyball Academy has decided to open a club here in Oxford. This became news to me the day they posted it on social media and I have no affiliation with it. Many people have reached out to me with concern and wanting to know my thoughts on the matter, so I will briefly share with you what God has recently placed on my heart.
For the last few months Greg and I have felt that we may need to consider moving out of Oxford. Since then, God has been opening and closing so many different doors and preparing me for this moment. Even though we felt led to move, we did not plan for it to be any time soon—contrary to recent rumors. We did not know exactly when or where we planned to move, but we planned to have tryouts in the fall and carry on with Oxford Volleyball Club as I had no desire to leave this town without a club, then wait on God’s timing to see what was next for us. However, with the recent news of Infinity coming to town and taking over our practice space, we now feel that the time may be sooner than later.
I have always known our small town does not have enough athletes to have two clubs, especially if they desire to be competitive. My goal has always been to grow the sport, develop volleyball players, help them reach their goals, and compete at the highest level possible. Two clubs would only divide the athletes and hinder their ability to compete at a high level.
I am extremely proud of all that Oxford Volleyball Club has accomplished these past eight years. Most of you were not here in the beginning to see where we started as a club and compare it to what is has become. We went from only playing in the region and never winning a tournament to winning so many tournaments that my closet is busting with trophies, plaques and banners. We have achieved more than any small-town club in Mississippi and even some big clubs ever have. We have won a national championship, won a national qualifier, earned several bids to USAV Nationals and competed against some of the best clubs in the country. We have helped develop the players that have helped their school teams win state championships for the very first time in their history. And had many girls earn scholarships to play in college. None of that came without great sacrifice both on the players, parents and my behalf. I have spent many sleepless nights because of my love and desire for the hundreds of girls that have entered my gym to have the best experience I could give them. I have never taken my role in your daughter's lives lightly.
Thank you to all that have been a part of OVC and helped make it what it was. I know it has not always been perfect, but it was always like family, we have grown and learned so much and we have walked through many failures and great success together. I will walk away from Oxford with my head held high with all we have accomplished together. I am so thankful for my time here and all that growing this club has taught me. Also for all the coaches who have come through OVC and shared their passion, love and time to develop these athletes. It would have not been possible without them.
I know this news may be shocking and upsetting to some and for that I’m sorry. Please know this was not my plan. As I told my children the other day that we felt God was calling us to move and I could see the shock and saddens wash over them. I reminded them that ultimately this world is not our home and we are not to follow our own will but the will of our Heavenly Father. When God calls on us to go we must obey and He will bless us. Just like the day He called us to Oxford—and look at all He has done! I do not know exactly what the future looks like for any of us, but one thing is for certain, God is in control and with that comes great peace for what lies ahead.
Thank you Oxford Volleyball Club! I love you!
God Bless
Coach Kacie
