My soul waits in silence for God only;
From Him is my salvation.

I love the early mornings during hunting season. Sitting in a tree waiting for the sun to rise is one of my favorite times to talk with the Lord. Take some time when you are out in the woods and talk to Him. We are called to keep our line of communication open with Him at all times. This is a great time to focus on Him - to clear our minds of all the distractions of this world. You may be surprised at what he has for you.

When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases

In most cases, you must obtain a license to hunt or fish in the US. The license is evidence that the state you are in has given you the authority to hunt or fish the game you are pursuing. When Jesus sent out the disciples, He granted them a power and authority that only He could give. He told them to take nothing and their needs would be met. This was one of the first times He asked something of His disciples. He had been teaching them and leading by example but now He was calling on them to act. As Christians we are not only called to learn but also to act, each in our own way as God leads us.

It's that magical time of the year when antlers are growing at an incredible rate. Deer and elk will seek the necessary nutrients and minerals to optimize their growth in the summers months. The proper nutrition is essential so that their antlers can reach their maximum potential. [24] And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, [25] not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another---and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Do you plant foodplots for wildlife? If your local laws allow, do you put out minerals and feed? If you are pouring into the health of the animals you pursue, you will take pride in the health of the herd and the harvest. The same goes with our walk with Christ. Once we have accepted Christ, we must fill ourselves with His Word by studying, praying, and fellowshipping with other believers but it does not stop there. The next step is pouring out everything you have gained to others. It can be as simple as offering an encouraging word or it could be in the form of prayer or discipleship. If you do not know where to start, pray for guidance and He will provide the opportunities. Allow Him to use you.

Every fisherman understands the temptation to take one more cast. That last cast could be the one. In this passage, Peter was ready to quit. He had fished all night and had nothing to show for it. When Jesus asked him to try again, Peter responded with obedience. Sometimes obedience comes before the blessing. There are times when we give our all and still come up empty. We wonder if our efforts matter, but we have to remember that the harvest comes in His timing. We can trust that He always has a purpose, even when the net feels empty.

they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

As a hunter, I have applied for a sheep tag for more than 20 years. I know others who have waited many years for trophy elk or moose tags. Every year, I submit another application knowing the odds are long but hoping this may be the year. It is easy to wonder if your opportunity will ever come. Many of God’s blessings also require seasons of waiting. The Bible is full of examples, from Abraham waiting for Isaac to David waiting to become king. Waiting is often where God strengthens our faith before delivering His promise. If you’ve prayed for something for 20 years, it’s reasonable to believe you will appreciate it more than the person who receives it immediately. God may not answer our prayers on our timetable. Perhaps He is preparing us to appreciate the blessing He already intends to give. Waiting isn’t easy, but it is rarely wasted.
