Honored to have Kaylee from Oxford Observer write this GREAT article about my fall bike giveaway. With the help of the community, we were able to give away a dozen bikes to Talawanda students in need of transportation. I was so happy Kaylee was able to interview a few of the students so I could hear how they’re using their bikes!! Thankful for the small ways we can all make a difference 🙂

Meet Yoshi. He and his wife Chie are some of the joyful people I’ve ever met. They’re avid outdoor enthusiasts, but a couple years ago Yoshi got in a tragic climbing accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. That’s when they picked up cycling, or in Yoshi’s case hand-cycling. It’s essentially an upside down bike frame with three wheels that’s hand-powered. What’s remarkable is that he’s able to keep up with his wife’s regular bike, yet it’s only powered by his arms!!

I was getting emotional helping him tune up his bike. It’s so beautiful that this type of solutions exist. Even though Yoshi isn’t able to pedal with his legs, he can still ride a bike!

Most recent project: Let’s get Will set up for some serious road riding. A grandparent gave him the bike, but he didn’t have any of the gear or knowledge to get cruisin’. I had the privilege of helping him, and made a great friend while doing it!

I met up with Jonathan this morning in Columbus to drop off his new Trek 2300 Carbon road bike. Jonathan was looking for a bike that he could ride to work, but that also allows him to keep up with his road biker friends on group rides. A mutual friend suggested he reach out to me, and I’m glad he did!

Even though this Trek is over 20 years old, it’s in brand new condition, lighting fast, and so light it can be picked up with a pinky!

I so enjoyed meeting Jonathan: A super genuine, down-to-earth guy, with a big heart and a lot of joy in his eyes. Did I mention: He was on his way to make maple syrup! 🍁
