āI Donāt Know About You, But Weāre Feeling 22!ā
This year marks 22 years of Bright Beginnings Childrenās Center! We proudly opened our doors in August 2003. What once started as an idea became a dreamāand that dream became a thriving center for children and families in our community. After the building sat vacant for nearly six months, I decided to inquire about reopening it to provide a safe, nurturing space for children in the Twin Beaches area. Never could I have imagined that 22 years later, we would still be serving families with the same passion and purpose.
Today, Bright Beginnings proudly provides high-quality child care and early learning opportunities for families in North Beach, Chesapeake Beach, Owings, Dunkirk, Sunderland, Huntingtown, and southern Anne Arundel County. We also welcome families from Prince Frederick, St. Leonard, and Lusby. Bus transportation is available to Windy Hill Elementary School and Beach Elementary School.
Bright Beginnings Childrenās Center is owned and operated by Executive Director Angie Figueiras, who holds a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education and has more than 25 years of experience in early childhood education.
Our dedicated Directors are Jessica OāCallaghan and Jessica Webster.
Ms. OāCallaghan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Administration and has been with BBCC since 2016.
Ms. Webster holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education/Liberal Studies and has been part of the BBCC family since 2010.
Our Pre-K program (partnered with Calvert County Public Schools) is led by Colleen Wagner. Ms. Wagner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies: Early Childhood Care and Education and is currently enrolled in a Master of Art in Teaching Specialization: Early Childhood Education. She has been employed at BBCC since our very first year in 2003.
Over the past 22 years, Bright Beginnings has been more than a place for children to growāitās also been a launchpad for amazing educators! Many former BBCC teachers have gone on to careers with Calvert County Public Schools, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Prince Georgeās County Public Schools, Frederick County Public Schools, Royal Oaks Schools (Michigan), Lexington County School District One (South Carolina), and Pittsburgh Public Schools. Even more exciting, five former BBCC staff members have opened their own successful child care programs right here in Calvert County.
We couldnāt be prouder of our incredible staffāpast and present! šāØ
Our center is MSDE Accredited and rated Level 5 Maryland EXCELS, the highest level on the state quality scale. We implement:
⢠The Healthy Beginnings Curriculum (Birthā3 years)
⢠Creative Curriculum (3ā4 years)
⢠Children Study Their World (Pre-K)
As we celebrate our 22nd year, we are excited to share this milestone with our BBCC families, past and present. We are incredibly proud of the high-quality preschool and child care we provide and grateful for the trust so many families have placed in us over the years.
⨠Hereās to 22 yearsāand many more bright beginnings ahead! āØ
