It's my favorite day of the week! Medal Monday is here! Since fall races are getting closer and closer, many of my athletes are running training races to prep for their goal races. This is something that I recommend everyone do in order to practice their fueling, gear, pacing, etc. Training runs are great, but getting into a race atmosphere is so beneficial. This past weekend, Tina ran the Awesomesauce Trash Panda 50k in Chattanooga. This race is held on Raccoon Mountain and offers distances of 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon and 50k. She was using this race as a training run for an upcoming 24 hour event. Up in Michigan, Kelyn ran the Run Woodstock 50 Miler. This race offers distances all the way from 5 miles up to 100 miles. Kelyn was also using her race as a training run for her upcoming 48 hour event. Kelyn ran a PR on this course, as well as placed 1st in her age group! Way to go, ladies! I am so excited for your goal races coming up soon! Who else likes using races as training runs?
