Update (6/22/26: OMS Pool is open for all scheduled programs.

Update (6/17/26): OMS pool’s closure will continue through June 19th. We expect to restart programs beginning June 22nd at OMS.

Due to a mechanical issue, the Owatonna Middle School Pool will be closed on Wednesday, June 17. All programming, including Swimming Lessons, Lap Swim, and Water Aerobics, has been canceled for the day.

Swim lesson participants will receive information regarding a make-up date on Friday, June 19.

⚠️ River Springs Water Park Update ⚠️

River Springs Water Park remains temporarily closed as we continue to work through a significant water loss issue. The City is scheduled for a contractor’s earliest available opportunity to identify the exact location of the issue and complete the necessary repairs.

We understand this continued closure is disappointing and appreciate your patience and support. Swimming Lessons, Water Aerobics, and limited Lap Swim opportunities will continue at Owatonna Middle School.

If you are visiting Owatonna Middle School this week for lap swim, swimming lessons or water aerobics you will enter the building through door 7P on the North side of the building. Once through the door you will walk past the gyms and go through a short hallway with the pool on your right.

Locker rooms can be accessed through the pool area.

⚠️ River Springs Water Park Opening Delayed ⚠️

Due to a mechanical issue, the opening of River Springs Water Park has been delayed. Staff are actively working to assess and resolve the issue, and our next update will be provided on Wednesday, June 10, or sooner if additional information becomes available.

Huge shoutout to our incredible seasonal staff at River Springs! 👏☀️

Behind the scenes, this team has been working hard getting everything ready for an amazing season. From pressure washing the entire facility, including the pool area, to filling tubes, deep cleaning, organizing, prepping, and stocking the concessions stand, their hard work has not gone unnoticed.

We appreciate each and every one of you for all the effort you’ve put in to get us season-ready!

FUNBRELLA STATUS UPDATE

We wanted to give everyone an update regarding the Funbrellas at River Springs Water Park.

At the end of last summer, all of the Funbrellas were damaged during a storm. During the offseason, the City of Owatonna submitted a disaster claim to the state for the Funbrellas along with other storm-related damages across the city. We recently received confirmation that the Funbrellas would be covered, allowing us to move forward with purchasing replacement frames. We are grateful it is covered as this was an expense we would not have been able to tackle in 1 season with our budget.

Unfortunately, the replacement frames currently have a 6–8 week lead time, putting their arrival sometime in early July. In the meantime, our Parks Crew worked hard to salvage and “bandaid” as many Funbrellas as possible to help provide shade coverage for patrons this summer. Unfortunately, we were only able to temporarily repair two of them.

We understand this situation isn’t ideal, isn’t fun, and overall is a little frustrating — and trust us, we’re right there with you. Shade at the water park matters, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we work through circumstances outside of our control.

Once the new frames arrive, our AMAZING Parks Crew will work quickly to get them installed and ready for everyone to enjoy again. ☀️
