PRACTICE STATIONS - The fastest way to own that new move you’re working on is to use some form of feedback to know if you’re doing it right or not.

This is probably one of the more obvious things I’ll post all year, but I truly don’t think enough golfers get the importance of it.

Without the feedback, you’re just guessing!

If there is something I feel is going to slowly degrade the game a little bit over time, it’s the proliferation of driving ranges being only on mats.

Such a big part of the game is the sensation you get from a forged iron entering the grass at exactly the right angle at exactly the right time at a high rate of speed. The feeling is better than drugs and you can’t even buy it.

I completely understand the economics of keeping grass tee boxes in great, let alone good condition considering the growth of the game and the rising costs of both labor and supplies.

The other piece of the puzzle is old mats and cheap mats are highly likely to create nagging injuries over time.

Enough about that. Just my thoughts on a subject I care about.

Karen learned how to hit her irons more solid without having to become more flexible or stay in her posture.

Turns out the thing she was trying not to do held the key to hitting it better all along.

Hitting the ball better doesn’t need to feel like a workout, it just requires putting the pieces in the right order.

I’ll show you how inside Consistent Contact. $37. Seven days. One blueprint to hit the best irons of your life. Act now, the price goes up in 24 hours.

THE GRIP - There are a large number of different grip types seen being used by the best players in the world.

How you place your hands on the club can be influenced by the club you’re hitting, the shot you’re hitting, how your arms hang from your shoulders and how low or high you place the handle of the club, just to name a few.

If you’re looking for a reset or a template for where to start, I think it’s hard to beat this picture of Tiger Woods, circa 2001.

Really happy with the progress Sean has made since starting lessons a few months ago. With the technical pieces intact now, we shift our focus towards skill building to learn how to score.

Excited to continue the journey!

This year’s US Women’s Open champion using a water wing and a swing guide training aid to keep her trail arm mechanics sharp.

Fascinating to me that the best players in the world use feedback tools every day, but 20 handicaps insist they just need to “find the feel” on their own.

Which side of the fence are you on?

TRENDS - I could go on for days taking about the benefits of tracking your stats if you’re serious about getting better.

One of the benefits is understanding the trend of your game over the last 3-6 months, rather than the back nine you had on Saturday.

When you can see the trend moving in the right direction, you’re less likely to make snap decisions like changing clubs, technique and strategy.

Being able to zoom out on your game is a skill that allows the rest of the skills time to develop. It’s about focusing on where you want to go, not where you are right now.

Jay and I had our first session together a few nights ago. He’s an experienced golfer that had noticed his ball striking deteriorating over the last little while.

Our goal for the first lesson was to get the low point more forward to create some reliability in his launch conditions. This was accomplished with some arm structure work in the backswing.

The added benefit of this work was that it helped him hit a “better draw”, utilizing the descent of the club rather than the swing direction.

Using 3 fundamentals as a gauge for our work, we crossed out the first and third fundamentals (contact and curve), and will see distance (2nd fundamental) increase as he gets more comfortable with the pattern.

Excited to see where this goes!

Bruce is 84 years old and wants to get back into golf. His grandsons play and he sees it as a way to stay active and spend more time with them.

We had our second lesson yesterday and had a breakthrough with what he needs to do to hit the ball higher and farther. His reaction makes my day, as it’s pure joy and the realization that he can still get better.

Lessons like this one I find the most rewarding and remind me that we’re just playing a game out here.

Sizzling iron shots in 7 days.

No getting open. No trying to shallow the club.

This will be your reality when you quit chasing speed and start building structure.

Comment CONTACT to start compressing your own shots. One week can change the way you hit the golf ball forever.
