The GYMNASTICS EXPRESS bus is a unique and innovative way to teach gymnastics to preschoolers. What we do is drive our Gym Bus to the child care center, march the children out into the bus and have a half hour gymnastics class right inside the bus. Along with gymnastics, we are teaching the basics of soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, volleyball, football, golf, bowling and KIDS YOGA! This give
s your child the opportunity to explore all these activities and learn the fundamentals of a variety of different sports. Our program is designed for those children between the ages of "walkers" through 6 years of age. We also understand how difficult it is for you to transport them to a gym for lessons. . . so we bring our program directly to their preschool!! The GYMNASTICS EXPRESS bus is a large bus which is totally remodeled inside. There is a nice cushioned, carpeted floor area for tumbling. We also have specially designed preschool equipment that we bring in the bus each week for class. This equipment includes: balance beam, bars, mats for tumbling, stair steps, mini-tramp, trampoline, and various other preschool fun shaped mats such as a huge donut, incline mat, mail box, octagon barrels, a box and spring board used for vaulting. By bringing this equipment we are able to teach all of the Olympic Events: balance beam, horizontal bar, floor (tumbling), vaulting, still rings, and parallel bars. Our colorful "Fun Shaped Mats" are designed to teach and excite the student when learning the concepts of Gymnastics. While learning basic Gymnastics, the preschooler develops strength, coordination and self-confidence. In our "GYMNASTICS EXPRESS" bus we also teach many basic skills and words which are important to the child in everyday life. There are skills such as waiting their turn, praising others, being rewarded for good behavior and following directions. Common words we use which the children will become familiar with are words such as over, under, around, behind, in front, beside, beginning, end and many, many more. We feel that we not only introduce them to the sport of gymnastics but also teach them some basic skills of everyday life. "GYMNASTICS EXPRESS" has been a family operated business for the past 35 years.. The owners and teachers of "GYMNASTICS EXPRESS" are Michelle and Ilya Mazel. Michelle has been involved in the sport of gymnastics for over 37 years, first as a competitive gymnast and then as an instructor. Michelle received her Physical Education degree from the University of Missouri in May of 1994 and has owned and operated several successful Gymnastics Express businesses in St. Louis, Jefferson City, Atlanta and Hilton Head Island before moving to Kansas City. In addition to teaching, owning and operating Gymnastics Express, Michelle also has a National Championship Title in professional ballroom dancing theater arts division and is a certified instructor in Yoga and Martial Arts. Ilya played competitive ice hockey for 20+ years, was rated a nationally top 10 wrestler, and is currently a practicing martial artist. Michelle and her husband reside in Overland Park and have two young children who have also participated on the Gym Bus. The "GYMNASTICS EXPRESS" classes are continuous throughout the year. The fees are paid monthly and your child will be enrolled until you decide to drop them from the program.
