Leg Circles: Know the Why? Leg circles are about hip mobility, strengthening the hip joint, and improving pelvic stability.
The goal isn't about how big your circles are--it's about controlled movements and keeping your hips anchored to the reformer. Slow and controlled is what you aim for with this exercise.
This movement is achieved by engaging the deep core muscles. If your back hurts when doing leg circles, imprint your spine, making sure your tailbone is heavy on the reformer. Avoid arching your back and don't take your legs too low. No matter how big your circles are, it's about slow intentional movements, focusing on your form and breathing.
Reformer Fundaments: Slow & Steady (All Levels) is the perfect class for everyone! Even if you’ve been doing pilates for years, sometimes you become too comfortable with the movements. Taking a Reformer 1 or Fundamentals class is what reinforces correct form and this is what really allows you to progress. Progress with pilates is not about the level of class you are in or how long you've been doing it. Progress is precise and intentional movements. Essentially, FORM is everything.
