Welcome and congratulations to the newest NRA Level I Rifle Coaches. We held the 2-day course here in Overgaard, AZ within my classroom this weekend (fun times when the power went out for 1.5 hours). I was honored to be your NCDS Instructor and thank you for being a truly awesome class and bringing your “A game” and remaining involved for 2-days. We had four that traveled in from Texas, one from Tennessee, one from California, and two from Phoenix. Our Texas folks brought their equipment for their sport, so everyone in the class could learn how they compete in the sport. I look forward to working with you all in the future.

The 2025-2026 Az NRA Youth 3PAR Air Rifle National Sectional Match is off and running at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility within the Air Gun In-Door Range. Good luck to all of the competitors and best wishes in the competition today. We have competitors from the Deer Valley HS AFJROTC (Glendale), Fontana HS MCJROTC (Fontana, CA), Kofa HS MCJROTC (Yuma), Marcos de Niza HS USAJROTC (Tempe), Rio Rico HS USAJROTC (Rio Rico), and Sandra Day O’Connor HS AFJROTC ((Phoenix) competing today. Thank you to Mark Grant and the Mesa Hohokam Foundation for selecting the USFT-Youth Shooting Sports Program as a recipient of a grant for the 2025-2026 season. This will surely help with the overall costs of hosting air rifle competitions this season. It came at the perfect time.

In case anyone is wondering, I love these three people to the moon and back like they are my own. I had the pleasure to coach them as their air rifle coach and the relationship stuck!

Now these three goofy kids (Adults), I call my own and they are helping me during air rifle competitions, and they come and visit (AND STAY overnight) at the old man (Coach Dan’s) house often. They even babysit our dog Reagan when we decide to take a break and travel. No matter what-they always make me smile and laugh. They know when certain people irritate me and go out of their way to make those people vanish.

This is what I speak about when I’m training others to become NRA coaches; when you’ve done well as a coach, they will let you know.

Thank you God for bringing them into my life! You soften this old man’s heart each time I’m in your presence.

I love you Ariana, Gracelynn, and James. Thanks for being you and being true to who you are!

Congratulations to the top Female and Male shooters during the FTX this weekend for the Buckeye, Cactus, and Peoria High School AFJROTC programs. May you both move forward in the competitive shooting programs and Kick Butts and Take Names! Thank you Lt. Col. Roel Zamora and Chief Jay Nelson from Cactus HS for inviting me again. Happy 36th anniversary to the most important woman and person in my life!

Love and life are not easy and if it were easy, everybody and every relationship would make it 36-years or more.

You’ve been there for the ups and downs and you’ve never tapped out! When I was down you lifted me up and when I was high you lifted me higher. Being married to you and loving me hasn’t ever been easy, but out of everyone that has come and gone in my life and on top of those that swore they’d always be there; you’ve always remained unequivocally by my side no matter what happened. You are my closest friend, best of friends,and true love of my life.

You are the breath I breathe each morning! You are the reason I wake in the morning and you give me reason to lean forward in life no matter how hard it might be. No matter what each day might bring; Connie Palmer you always make it easier for me to accept a new day and take on each adventure that God brings my way.

You are goofy and blonde at times, but I accept it all, because you are unique and I know you love me as much as I love you! We have always been perfect for each other and as I’ve always said “We fit together as the perfect baseball glove.” We still need to figure out who is the pitcher and the catcher, but I’m good-to-go either way.

Thank you for coming into my life and making it a better place. Thank you for our kids and grand-children. I can’t wait until we have great grandkids and I’m happy to be patient for the future.

I love you Connie Palmer. It will be interesting what the next 36-years will bring to us.
