Exciting news–the Mountain Trip family is expanding! We acquired Peak Mountain Guides, a well-respected guide service based in Ridgway, Colorado since 2008. This gives us access to their legacy of permits for some of the best climbing and skiing in the Rocky Mountains, as well as to world-class climbs in the Desert Southwest.

This will include areas such as Castle Valley, Indian Creek, Unaweep Canyon, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, El Dorado Canyon, Flatirons, Rock Mountain National Park, more days in the Ouray Ice Park, permits to ski Red Mountain Pass, and more.

We are so excited, and we hope you'll consider joining us for any of these new and grand adventures!

Today's videography lesson: motion blur. In this screen grab the subject unexpectedly leapt at the camera operator with a #6 cam. The camera was on auto focus at 24 frames per second. The focus tracking yielded pretty good results on the subject whom the operator was attempting to track. However, the still screen grab reveals a blurred image. It turns out, this is what our eye perceives when we see things in motion and actually "interpolates" a clearer image.

The real issue is why anyone would climb a route that requires a #6.... sheesh!

Why is Lance running from the Bastille? Fear of imprisonment by a king? Oh wait, different Bastille....

The Bastille was a fortress in Paris, known formally as the Bastille Saint-Antoine. It played an important role in the internal conflicts of France and for most of its history was used as a state prison by the kings of France. It was stormed by a crowd on 14 July 1789, in the French Revolution, becoming an important symbol for the French Republican movement. It was later demolished and replaced by the Place de la Bastille.
