PRS Midwest Regional Final today, these shooters truly excelled. We are honored to host the shooters from the Midwest region and accommodate the competitors. We designed a challenging and competitive course of fire for them to compete. We're excited for next year and have big plans for the range on how we can challenge them for future events.

Range Update with Franklin County

We’ve filed a continuation with Franklin County while we continue working with Engineering for berm design on the updated range layout.

Our request will be submitted at the County Planning Commission meeting on Thursday, July 17. No member support is needed for this meeting—just a routine step.

We’ll keep you posted as things progress.

At this time we plan to meet again with the County on August 21st to review the updated Engineering design.

Challenging course of fire today for our Precision Rifle Series Midwest Regional Qualifier match which brought in 92 shooters from multiple states besides Kansas. Switchy winds and small targets are a challenge. Thank you to Topeka BBQ Shop for filling our guts with your fabulous smoked meatwitches, which are always are a favorite amongst the competitors.

Thank you for the incredible outpouring of support for the range—both through your emails and by showing up in person at last night’s Franklin County Planning Commission meeting. Your presence and voices made a meaningful impact.

We’re pleased to share that the outcome was favorable. The Commission voted to allow the range to continue operating, with some pending updates to our Special Use Permit. These updates are not yet finalized.

As part of the path forward, we voluntarily offered to have a certified ballistic engineer review the range’s layout, berm sizes, and orientation. Based on the results of that professional review, the Commission voted to continue the discussion in 60 days. At that time, we’ll reconvene to review the engineer’s findings and finalize any adjustments to the permit.

For now, there is no change to our range operations. We will communicate any changes once they are clearly defined and approved in coordination with the Planning Commission.

There was a tremendous show of support at the meeting—both in attendance and in heartfelt comments from the shooting community. Tim and I are humbled and extremely grateful for your continued support and belief in what we’ve built here together.

A visit to the range is a great way to decompress, great words Chuck.

Nothing like a day out on the range. It’s important to find outlets that help us cope with life’s stresses and challenges. I’m grateful for the peace and focus it brings.

We would appreciate any support from those in the area on this matter. We will be presenting to the Franklin County Commissioners the positive impacts that we have had as a private shooting facility. Not only do we have one of the best shooting facilities in NE Kansas but we host a number of shooting disciplines. We host one of the biggest NRL22 groups in the nation Free State Precision Plinkers with a great youth enrollment. We host education / training events and woman outdoors groups. Wander Woman - Kansas. If you are unavailable please email the county directly @ [email protected] to show your support. We are not fighting the opening of the flint hills trail as we have offered to make accommodations to modify the range as needed.
