Ever wonder why we stack mats next to the beam when our gymnasts are learning back handsprings? 👀🤸♀️
Learning a new skill on beam can be intimidating! Stacked mats and appropriate training equipment can be used as part of a progression to help gymnasts practice safely while building confidence and becoming comfortable with the movement. 💪✨
A back handspring on beam requires strength, body awareness, technique, and LOTS of confidence. Skills like these aren’t learned overnight! We break them down, use progressions, and give our gymnasts opportunities to practice step by step as they work toward their goals. 👏
Every gymnast progresses at their own pace, and confidence is such an important part of the process. Watching them go from being nervous to trusting themselves and confidently going for a skill is one of the best parts of coaching! 🥹💙
It may look like “just a bunch of mats,” but every piece of equipment has a purpose in helping our athletes learn, grow, and progress! 🤩
