The most critical attribute we verify during tooling development is the land to groove ratio being adequate to control the bullet. Too little land to groove and the bullet will not engage properly and the rifling will smear on the bullet. Too much land to groove and you have excessive pressure.

Looks like we've got the proper ratio with this straight 1:3 twist with no excess pressure and no smearing.

Another cool perspective on the 1:3 twist we're doing for 338Cal. All our barrels including these 1:3 twists are single point cut and hand lapped.

I haven't covered much of the conventional twist 338Cal development but here is a 3 shot group from a 1:9.4 twist 338 Rem Ultra Mag with 300gr Nosler Custom Comps. 100 yards and for reference that paster is 1in.

I finally got around to posting a photo of the 6XC one of the guys at the shop is working on. I don't know about you but I haven't seen too many Ma**er actions in a Hardwood Gunstocks At-One style stock. It's obviously not finished but far enough to do load development.

Just a few of the different projectiles we're testing with 8.6BLK. From left to right we have a 342gr Punisher Series from Gorilla Ammunition , 300gr Custom Comp from Nosler , and 225gr TSX from Barnes Bullets (supersonic). Can't wait to see what these do!

Our first batch of chips from a 338Cal barrel with a 1:3 twist. For those interested in some crazy long for caliber bullets in an 8.6BLK we've got our first test barrel ready to go!

For casting our laps the best flux material we have found is bees wax. Not only does the lead alloy pour the best using bees wax but it also smells a lot nicer in the shop compared to other options.
