Yesterday was a combination of ups and downs competing in the Fair Haven Chalenge with a 48 boat field. We went all in choosing not to try and play with the inside fish and roll deep, 13 miles from port before we laid down. By the end of the day we ended up 19 miles from port covering water. First 2 hrs we rotted, 3 hr only landing a few skips. The wind shifted and it went from 1 foot waves to 5-6 footers in the blink of an eye. I told the team, hold on we are going to ride the ditch and at that moment it was lights out. Team Second Chance Sportfishing put a respectable box together weighing in 94.55 lbs for a 6 fish box landing us in 7th place of a 48 boat field. Very proud of our team for trusting in me and me trusting in them putting the best program together and awesome work on the rods in rough conditions. Congrats to all who competed. Thank you to the great work by the committee for hosting a great tournament.

Full send this morning for a $15K fish. Formulated a plan and sent it at 5 am. We had a blast, Hayley did awesome work on the rods. Ol girl impresses me each and every outing. She finally threw in the towel mid day and said “ I can’t do anymore, my hands and elbow are screaming.” Lots of silvers got bogeyed and sent back for another day. After the day we had I pointed the boat toward home and now we are going to enjoy good company at the docks before the fireworks.

What a crazy and fun few days competing in the Sodus Pro/Am. This weekend was very memorable for Second Chance. Over the years we have competed in the AM division and PRO division ( teaming with other captain’s) but this year marked our first Pro entry with our team. Day 1, we came up with a plan and did not deviate from it. Knowing Day 2 could possibly be cancelled due to wind, the team worked their asses off to put an 11 fish box together putting us in 10th place out of a 25 boat field. As it would happen Day 2 was cancelled. Fishing day 2 or not, we are so proud of our team making this a weekend we will never forget. Wish we took more pics from pre-fish and after day 1 but pics were the last thing on our minds. It was awesome seeing everyone. Thank you to the Sodus Pro/Am committee and congratulation’s to everyone that competed.

Freight Train!!

06/29/2026

Nothing better than felling like there is a freight train in the end of the line screaming for mercy! Second Chance got it done this weekend!

Lady O is starting to set up nicely. Weekend recap: Saturday we chose to make a run and paid off. Sunday knowing we were only fishing a few hours, we hunkered down not far from port and another solid decision. Both days produced both quality and quantity for fish and bites. Today was about as epic a show you could have watched as rods were flying, pumping like a freight train was on the other end and screaming drags. Hayley and kielbasa John did a great job on the rods. John Vishnefski
was able to stay calm and get Second Chance on the LOC board with a 21.5 mature. Nothing more to say other than get ready all it’s looking like a banner year for kings!

A-TOM-MIK Challenge in the books! Here is a short recap of the day. Decision was made to get a few quality browns in the box before heading in search of kings. Plan A worked, landed our solid browns in the first hour and change of the tournament start. Plan B- Pulled gear and ran with a ton of time to upgrade with kings. Plan B- didn’t produce for us as we expected. Found the kings but couldn’t make them chomp. Plan C- With an hour and half left for rods out of the water we pulled gear again and ran to where we thought we could trigger our upgrade bite. Rods reset and after a 5 min soak rigger fires boating a 17.25 king. Hopes were high to continue the pace for the remaining time to hopefully upgrade but fell short. The team kept calm and still put a health box together. Great job to Hayley, Mike and James. Thank you Tom and Steph for another great event.

Today the boys had an early morning start and had a blast fishing with friends / like family, chasing browns in the brown trout tournament. 8/9 on a tough day of fishing but made the best of it. The boys had fun and we made memories. We did our best to get them on the board for the kids division.
