Carrying the weight of absence after an overdose is profound. For those who remain, explaining survival often comes down to luck. This survivor channels guilt into positive community work, aiming to prevent others from becoming statistics and to ensure their loved ones' passing isn't in vain.

Purple means something more today.

It represents the lives lost, the people still fighting, and the families holding onto both grief and hope.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, let’s choose compassion over judgment and action over silence.

Today, August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day.

For Marc Rogala, this is not simply another awareness day. It is deeply personal.

Marc survived three overdoses that resulted in hospitalization, along with others that nobody ever knew about. During his final overdose, an Uber driver recognized that something was wrong and called 911. His sister found him on the kitchen floor, a police officer administered Narcan, and Marc woke up in intensive care.

In this special episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, we talk about why surviving an overdose does not automatically end an addiction, the people Marc knew who never made it into recovery, and the trauma carried by parents, children, spouses, siblings, and friends.

Today, we remember those who were lost. We stand beside those still struggling. We support the families and friends affected. And we honor the people who choose to act when someone’s life depends on it.

Marc is still here because people acted. Someone else may still be here tomorrow because you do too.

Please listen, watch, and share this episode. Someone in your life may need to hear it.

As a survivor, it’s a bittersweet day today, I am grateful to be alive, but I mourn all the lives lost including some good friends. Always remember the person first, not their disease that took them!
