Kids, today I did a thing. I turned in my key, and have shut down after 4+ years. I have called it a hiatus, but if I do re-open, it will likely be in a handful of years, after I retire. (And probably a rebranding).
I would like to thank CrossFit Oswego for the opportunity to use their space while they were closed. A wonderful group of people, to be sure! Without your kindness, I might not have lasted 6 months! Go to them for your fitness needs - they (and all the coaches) will set you in the right direction!
I would also like to thank the USKMA for the instruction, the support, and the trust over these years. You are some of the very best (and certainly the most talented) people I have ever met. Ever.
To those that have let me bring self-defense info/techniques into your lives, my sincerest thanks. You are why I opened a business that I didn't want to open. But more than four years in, I still don't want to run a business. All this being said, I will personally still be training (because you can't possibly know it all!), and possibly available for a seminar (or individual teaching) here and there.
Mostly, I want to thank My Lovely, Annette - for the love, belief, support, and sacrifice (especially the weekend getaways we've missed out on. But that will change, Love.) You will forever be my favorite human.
To those I've trained that want to continue, and those looking for solid, real-world self-defense...find a USKMA affiliate (there are a couple not too far from Oswego - Bolingbrook and Plainfield, for sure), or at the least - someone that will teach the ethics of violence, potential legal (and civil) ramifications of violence, not "just" the moves you need to keep yourself (loved ones, etc) safe. Love you all, and am eternally grateful for each of you. Be safe! Peace. โ๏ธ๐
P S.: The pic is from the last Thursday class I did - with a couple of my favorite chuckleheads. Neither of which are on Facebook.
