Osceola Organized Practical Shooters OOPS

Hello shooters--

We're going to have a casual get-together on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at my office in Urbandale, starting around 5:30pm. Part of the reason for this is to hoist a glass in remembrance of several family members and friends we have recently lost. The other reason is to just enjoy the company and conversation that we don't always get to have on Tuesday match nights. Spouses and significant others are welcome.

Light appetizers will be provided. Bring your own beverages of choice.

OOPS Match Results from Today.

What a great day for a match! Almost perfect except for the wind picking up halfway through and blowing down a few un-staked walls. We had five really good stages today that totaled over 100 rounds.

We have an extra Sunday this August so it will be three weeks to the next scheduled OOPS pistol match on September 14th. If you would like to shoot another pistol match on one (or both) of the two extra weekends, just let me know. We can shoot a regular match, a Single Stack match, a two gun match of some configuration, a Steel Challenge type match, or just a practice day to drag out some of our extensive props and play with them.

OOPS Match Results from today!

Thanks for coming out and shooting today, the weather was near perfect. We had a very good turnout and they built some really nice, and very challenging stages. The link to the scores is below.

We had a few new shooters and a few shooters who haven’t been down for a while. Father/Daughter team, Kraig and Mattie Kincaid. Dustin Vander Waal, Ethan Settle, and Justin Wallace. Nice to see you and hope to see you again and again!

Thanks for coming out and shooting everyone, it was a nice day for a match. Maybe a little windy. Thanks for setting up four fun stages today, they had everyone smiling. Stage three had some pretty high Comstock scores. Close and fast!

OOPS Match Results.

It turned out to be a pretty good day for a match. The rain stayed away and the winds were light for the most part. Thanks to everyone for coming. Also thanks for building some really nice stages that were fun and challenging to shoot.

The next scheduled pistol match is on June 8th. June has five Sundays so we could schedule a special match on an off Sunday if you want. An all 1911 Single Stack match? An all Production match? A 2-gun pistol and rifle match? A Steel Challenge pistol match? Or something else?

Match Results from OOPS Today!

What a nice day for a match! I wish they all were this nice. It was nice to see everyone again and we had a couple of new faces today. George hadn’t been back for a while and it was nice to see him again. Kevin looked none worse for wear, even getting married yesterday.

I have never seen so many hits in the A-zone at a match as I did today. And the match was not a really easy one either. Good shooting everyone.

OOPS Match Results.

A very nice day for a match, a little cool at 8am but it warmed up and was very comfortable for shooting. The guys set up five nice stages with a little bit of everything. I can’t believe how smooth and quickly the setup goes each match. You guys are like stage building machines anymore. Everyone pitches in for both building and tear down. Thanks!

OOPS Match Results.

Thanks for coming out everyone, it was a nice morning to shoot a match. We had fun six stages, about 125 rds, and I thank you guys for jumping in and building such good ones every match day.

Thanks to Ron Ver Mulm for helping clean up the fire damage from this spring. We still need to get rid of some burned tire carcasses, so if anyone out there knows a way to get it done, let me know!

OOPS Match results.

It was a pretty nice day to shoot but a little bit on the warm side. Normal July in Iowa. The breeze helped more than it hurt. We had five really nice stages. Thanks to all the guys who designed and built the stages, helped run them, and cleaned up the ranges afterwards. It really makes a match go smoothly and more fun! We had two new shooters, Will Summers and Kyle Enderton. They were not new to shooting handguns, just our combat style matches. They will be back, I’m sure.

I’ve been shooting on our range since 1976 I think (have to look it up). OOPS started shooting IPSC matches in 1982 and the USPSA was formed a few years after that as the US Region of IPSC. I wonder how many hours I have spent on that range? Setting up matches, mowing, building props, spraying weeds, handling memberships, digging outhouse holes, burning piles of junk at midnight, writing match results (they used to be typed and mailed with the next month’s course of fire). I still have all of them along with CIPS fliers.

OOPS Match Results.

Great weather for shooting yesterday! It felt a little warmer than the thermometer showed. Nice turnout of shooters and we had five really nice and challenging stages. I had a lot of fun going for the hard shots.

The next regularly scheduled pistol matches are on July 11th & 25th. Hope you can make them! If you want to have a match (almost any kind) on an off Sunday, let me know. If we can get enough shooters to make it work, we will. Maybe a short range AR combat match, Steel Challenge match, some kind of rimfire, etc. I even have some clay bird throwers that I haven’t brought to the range in years. They throw sporting clay type angles. We also have some clay bird static holders and some that pop them straight up in the air using a falling pepper popper.
