I was approached yesterday by long time Osakis resident Chad Mullenhart with backing from Juettner Ford to donate the $2500 for the fireworks. I informed him it would have to be presented to the city council as there is a liability waiver that needs to be signed by both parties.
His offer was presented to the city today and the donations were refused. Their claim is that there is not enough time to change the venue. The golf course was already prepared to hold the fireworks so no extra time is needed on our part. Enough said.
A big thank you goes out to Chad and Juettner Ford for making a noble offer to try and save a long standing tradition in Osakis.

Fireworks...Know the full story before you put the blame on the golf course. We hosted the fireworks for years giving up revenue shutting down the course 90 minutes early on one of our busiest holidays so everything could be set up. We absorb the cost of portable outhouses. Extra staffing to ensure the public was able to watch the fireworks as safely as possible. Extra staffing cleaning up the next day from all the trash left behind by spectators. Our fire fighters did a great job in setting up and cleaning up after.

The city ran their plow truck up our driveway, one swipe up and back down 8th Street. Made it so emergency vehicles and the public could get up there in case of fire. So kids could use our hill for sledding. The city did this at no charge. You take care of us, we take care of you. Fair deal for both. Without any notice they just stopped plowing up to the golf course. Attempts were made to continue as we always had but the city was no longer going to plow private property ie the golf course driveway. Therefore our board decided we were no longer going to absorb the cost. The golf course just wanted to continue as we did in the past. Maybe both groups of people could have done a better job working this out. If it was truly important to the city council to continue this tradition it could have been easily resolved.

We will be open back up Monday at 9am. Check out the website at osakisgolf.com and book a team time. We are working on a glitch under members but you can book under public. We can make corrections when you check in.

As a result of unfavorable weather conditions, our facility will be closed on Friday, Saturday, and potentially Sunday. We will closely follow weather updates and inform you of any changes regarding Sunday's operations. It seems that Mother Nature does not share our passion for golf. We anticipate your return soon.

Chris's persistent efforts have ensured that we will be ready to open tomorrow at 10:00 am. If you are a member, please note that your membership is due before playing a round. Tee times are required. We are looking forward to another great season of golf.
