1st Team sorting Practice of the winter is today! So excited to get back into the arena with great cattle and great friends! If this is your first time to JB Ranch, please be sure to sign a Hold Harmless before coming to The Ranch. We have plenty of parking, but still please park conservatively to make sure we have plenty of space. If you made arrangements to bring a 2nd horse, remember we don't tie horses in the arena unless arranged with us. Most folks think their horse doesn't eat wood, dig or kick... but darn near everyone one of them does. We want to limit damages and dangerous situation in the arena. We try to keep a fun atmosphere while having a well run practice! Please help us keep the flow steady by being ready At The Gate when you are next in the ring. Be sure to clean up after yourselves before you leave! We are adding more practice dates and clinic in the next few weeks. Keep an eye on the website, or join our mailing list to be the 1st to know!

Are you in the market for premium horse-quality hay round bales? We are producing the most beautiful 2nd-cutting local hay right now! Our horses are going to be so happy with these bales this year. These are horse-quality, net-wrapped 4x5 round bales from our fields here in the Orting Valley. We are getting enough to not only feed our stock, but plenty left over to sell to friends who are looking! $55 a bale if we can load you from the field! Once we store them in our barn, they will be $65 each. If you buy more than 6, we can give you a deal. You won't be disappointed with this grass. Contact Us! Text, Private Message, Email... Managing horses, cattle and acreage in western Washington can be such a joy, and a challenge. This time of year reminds me how blessed, and challenged, we are with this amazingly fertile soil. We are always extremely concerned with horse health for numerous reasons. This time of year horse weight and nutrition management is a major concern for horse owners in this area. At JB Ranch, one of our most valuable partnerships is with Dr. Kent Tooman. Recently we had a great chat with him about horse weight, exercise, and metabolic syndrome. He shared a podcast with us that he recently participated in regarding this exact topic. I wanted to share this podcast with you all! If you haven't had the chance to work with Dr. Tooman, you are missing out! I look forward to every visit from Dr Tooman and we all feel heard, and well informed, and the end of every visit I've been working in the equine industry for over 32 years and am constantly looking for ways to become better in this trade. Kent Tooman is a stellar resource.

The weather is beautiful! The grass is growing, birds are singing, and the trails are fantastic. We are thankful for our year-round arenas, but so excited to ride in the fields, hit the trails, and take in some of this amazing PNW scenery. Look at these happy, healthy cattle just soaking up the sun!

Update: It's Open Again! If you're headed to the ranch from down south today, be sure to come thru the town of Orting. Orville Road is closed South of JB Ranch from a mudslide.
