Managing horses, cattle and acreage in western Washington can be such a joy, and a challenge. This time of year reminds me how blessed, and challenged, we are with this amazingly fertile soil. We are always extremely concerned with horse health for numerous reasons. This time of year horse weight and nutrition management is a major concern for horse owners in this area. At JB Ranch, one of our most valuable partnerships is with Dr. Kent Tooman. Recently we had a great chat with him about horse weight, exercise, and metabolic syndrome. He shared a podcast with us that he recently participated in regarding this exact topic. I wanted to share this podcast with you all! The weather is beautiful! The grass is growing, birds are singing, and the trails are fantastic. We are thankful for our year-round arenas, but so excited to ride in the fields, hit the trails, and take in some of this amazing PNW scenery. Look at these happy, healthy cattle just soaking up the sun!

Update: It's Open Again! If you're headed to the ranch from down south today, be sure to come thru the town of Orting. Orville Road is closed South of JB Ranch from a mudslide.
