***these races are part of Seattle Quad, do one or both. If you are legacy with Seattle, you can do our "Goodbye PSL" instead and get your quad medal on that day. Thursday / Friday races will be on the Seattle Quad page when open.

Opening soon:
Orting Turkey Trot - Saturday Nov. 14th
(100% Orting Food Bank Race/proceeds)

Turducken Challenge:
Open (It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas race)
Description of this challenge - you do a 5k (or more) each day the four days of Thanksgiving day weekend. Thursday - Saturday you can choose your own adventure, as in do your own local race, treadmill, neighborhood or a meet up with me & friends. Then finish out the weekend with participating in It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas race. Make sure you mark the question in registration "Are you doing the Turducken 5k Challenge." We always make a special medal for Turducken Challenge participants. If you are out of the area and want to do it all virtually, contact Kandi directly for a secret link to register - that registration will be slightly higher to cover shipping your medal. Join the "event" I will create for this to keep up on info and my meet ups.

Welcome to Pop Up Races! Whether you are just starting your running journey, or an experienced runner, we welcome you to our events!

Race info for Sparkler Sprint at Discovery Park in Tehaleh (Bonney Lake, Wa)

First, I want to thank everyone for joining us for the race and say that we appreciate everyone that makes it to the starting line! Funds from this event are going to our fundraising effort for PPMD (Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy) and we appreciate that the running community can get a fun run in and help us reach our goals at the same time.

How to find Discovery Park - We know that finding the park can be a challenge so here are some helpful tips -
For GPS users, we recommend using the address for the retirement community:
Wesley at Tehaleh
17702 Cascadia Boulevard East, Bonney Lake, WA 98391

This facility is across the street from the entrance to the park, so look for a drive way opposite of the retirement community. See the attached map for the layout and location of the park in relation!

Race info - We will be located along the paved running trails not far from the parking lot, so look for our pop up tent. There should be a portapotty near the parking lot as well.

Course: There will be two options to run -
A well groomed trail system with some pavement - Each loop is just over 4.35 miles
- or -
Paved only path: We will mark out a 5k loop that is pavement only for those who prefer to use pavement paths
- or -. there is a 1k loop around the lake in the center of the park. While convenient, it is not the most exciting loop ever.

All races start in waves when we have runners available, so you can start when you are ready. The first runners will be released to run at 7:00AM - Due to using a community park, we are trying to be good stewards of the running community and not invade too early!

This event is extremely low-key and should be a fun event with a chance to get in some easy miles with friends.

Can't wait to see everyone!
-Rob and Kandi

Race Info for the Kaboom Race:
Happy 4th of July to all of our participants! We look forward to seeing you on the course and at the aid station/start/finish through the day!

Race Location: Bradley Lake Park, in Puyallup, Wa - This park is adjacent to a Lowe's store, and behind Walmart for reference. The posted address is: 531 31st Ave SE, Puyallup, WA 98374
There is parking available in the parking lot, which should open around 6am. If the gate isn't open, there is side street parking available as well!

We will be located in the park near the picnic shelter, but we did not reserve the shelter this year. We will have at least 1 pop up tent, and tables as well as access to picnic tables and chairs for runners to us.

Race times:
We will continue to do waves of runners as they become available, so you can start anytime during the morning as long as you can complete your last loop before 4:30pm! That said, we do have recommended times, and we will be more than happy to accommodate late arrivals as well as early starts:

All Distances begin in waves at 7:00am and the course is open until 4:30pm. If you need more time, we will work with you to ensure you have the time needed to complete your race.

We are not offering an early start due to extending our finish time later in the day. This allows us to better manage parking and arrivals into the park as compared to folks previously arriving before the park was opened.

Since we will be launching runners in waves as they become ready, we just ask that you allow a few minutes for us to hand out bibs, answer questions, etc before you line up with folks.

This course is a 'friendly' course, in that it is only .91 miles per loop, which means you will see folks all throughout your race, and hopefully make a few friends! This race is a tribute to the Loop the Lake course that was held for years in the greater Portland area by local-ish legend Steve Walters.

Loop definition:
Big: .90 mile
Small: .23 mile

Loops required per distance:
5k: 3 Big + 2 Small (Total distance approx. 3.2 miles
10k: 7 Big (Total distance approx. 6.3 miles)
Half Marathon: 15 Big (Total distance approx. 13.5 miles ) OR 14 Big + 2 Small (Total distance approx. 13.1 miles)
Full Marathon: 29 Big (Total distance appox. 26.1 miles) with option to do a Small Victory loop for 26.35 total)
50K: 34 Big + 2 Small

Aid Station/Restrooms:
With a loop of just under a mile, the aid station will be available when you need it, providing water and Gatorade, as well as snacks and gels to keep you moving. There are restrooms in the park, including a set near the Shelter and adjacent to the 'Small' loop.

Event info:
The race will begin and end at the East Puyallup Trailhead (Foothills Trail) in Puyallup, WA.
The East Puyallup Trailhead for the Foothills Trail is located at

Directions:

- From Hwy 410/SR 167, take the SR 162 exit towards Orting.
- Head south on SR 162 (Valley Avenue E) for about half a mile.
- Turn right onto 80th Street E; the trailhead is about a mile down on your right.

Start times:
Early Start: 7:15am (Available for anyone who wishes extra time for ALL distances)

All races will begin at 8:00am, with rolling starts available for those who might be late or want to start in smaller groups!

Please arrive up to 15-30 minutes before you want to run, allowing us time to issue bibs, give any instructions, etc. As soon as we have a group ready to launch, we will release that group and start building the next group. Remember that we are still exercising covid safety, so only runners in a waiting group can be in the race start area, and should distance as appropriate.

Race Courses:

Caution: This course will cross two fairly busy roads, Pioneer Way E and Military Road E, so please use caution when crossing! There will be additional crossings of streets into neighborhoods that will also require being aware, so just take your time, watch your surroundings and be safe!

Marathon Course: The marathon course will be a double out and back of the half marathon course. This is simply due to logistics of ensuring adequate aid for our runners, as well as providing restroom facilities, etc. Runners will head towards Orting, crossing two major intersections on the course, Pioneer Way E and Military Road E on the way into Orting. They will pass the aid station at McMillin (mile 4.5 approx) and continue toward Orting, following the Foothills trail until the edge of the Whitehawk neighborhood and edge of Orting Middle school, following the trail toward the parking lots for the school, turning after the 2nd parking lot entrance and following the outer sidewalk back to Foothills Trail, then back to the race start. They will then repeat this course to complete a marathon distance.

Half Course: Runners will head towards Orting, crossing two major intersections on the course, E Pioneer and Military on the way into Orting. They will pass the aid station at mile 4.5 (approx) and continue toward Orting, following the Foothills trail until the edge of the Whitehawk neighborhood and edge of Orting Middle school, following the trail toward the parking lots for the school, turning after the 2nd parking lot entrance and following the outer sidewalk back to Foothills Trail, then back to the race start.

5k Course: Runners will head 1.55 miles towards Orting, turning at a marked point on the trail.

10k Course: Runners in the 10k course will head out from trailhead, heading towards Orting for 3.1 miles, crossing Pioneer Way E and Military Road E, turning just a bit less than a half mile past Military.

Aid Stations:
The Start/Finish area will have water, gels and other snacks, and an aid station will be posted at
Military Road E for 10k, Half and Marathon runners, as well as an aid station at McMillin Trailhead for our Half Marathon and Marathon runners. This aid stations will include snacks, gels, water and Gatorade type drinks, and a restroom available at McMillin!
