Introducing the round robin to end the Who's Number 1 in Washington debate. This will be a A Premier Wrestling Tournament, with Premier Wrestlers. This invite-only event is going to be hosted at Orting High School. We're hoping to rethink how some tournaments are run.
The Concept: Elevating High School Wrestling
This round robin is more than just a tournament, it's an opportunity for high school wrestlers to go head-to-head against top quality opponents that they might not see in the regular or post season. Unlike conventional tournaments where seeds can lead to many mismatched matches, our goal is to put together four quality matches for each participant against four quality opponents. There is nowhere to hide.
The Application Process: A Quest for the Best
Starting in mid-December, aspiring wrestlers will have the chance to apply for a spot in the tournament by filling out a Google Form. This application process ensures that only the most dedicated and deserving athletes will compete in this prestigious event. Applications are due by January 1st, and the selected wrestlers will be notified that week.
The Event: Showcasing Excellence
At Orting High School on January 20th the wrestlers will take center stage. This is an individual event, but participants will proudly represent their respective schools.
Outings and Recognition: A Special Opportunity
Participating in the tournaments counts as a team outing, but we've taken steps to minimize the impact on team schedules. If your school's wrestling team is also competing in another tournament on the same day, it will count as only one outing, allowing you to maximize your team's exposure and opportunities. So, you could use your outing at some random tournament, or use it here to face the best competition if you’re selected.
The Selection Process: A Fair and Balanced Approach
Our selection committee comprises two representatives from the east side, one message board rankers, and two representatives from the west side. This diverse panel ensures fairness and balance in selecting the tournament's participants, guaranteeing that the best wrestlers from across the region get the chance to showcase their skills.
Beyond Medals and Trophies: Bragging Rights and Legacy
This event isn't about collecting medals or trophies it's about securing those invaluable bragging rights. It's about creating a lasting legacy as one of the best high school wrestlers in the state in the year 2024.
Join us in this exciting adventure as we bring together the best high school wrestlers, eliminate mismatches, and provide a platform for athletes to shine. The tournament hopes to answer Who is Number 1 in Washington
