Our Story - UNIVERSITY OF MAINE M CLUB

Since 1932, the M Club has been a champion of Univer

sity of Maine athletics and its current and former student-athletes. Its members come together to generate as much assistance as possible to enhance the athletic program and the experience of today’s UMaine Black Bear athletes. All former student-athlete letter winners from the University of Maine are invited to be contributing members, as are those inducted into honorary membership. As a non-profit, affiliated with the University of Maine Alumni Association, the M Club’s dues paid each year by “M” men and women are used to support a number of athletically-related events and projects such as:
• Senior Night and letter winner “M” Plaque Awards for graduating seniors
• Scholar Athlete Banquet and M Club Dean Smith Awards
• M Club Scholarship
• Team banquets and special events for current athletes
• Consideration of other requests that benefit current Black Bears
• Honoring alumni Silver (25 year) and Gold (50 year) letter winners
• UMaine Sports Hall of Fame Banquet

Zoe Furber has represented Canada on the international stage, competing with the U16 Canadian Team and the Junior Women’s National Team, making her international debut in 2022. She has been a member of Field Hockey Canada’s NextGen program since 2019. As a standout for the Maine Black Bears, Zoe has been named to the NFHCA Division 1 squad each year of her collegiate career. The 5 goal performance was the most goals scored since 1983, and her 10 point game matched the record set in 2009. In 2024, Zoe started all 20 games, continuing to establish herself as one of the programs premier midfielders.
