6 Days to Battle of the Bears puck drop!!!
We are excited to announce the Bruins Alumni roster includes Bruce Shoebottom!!

Defenseman Bruce Shoebottom earned a reputation as one of hockey's toughest players in a well-traveled 15-year pro hockey career.

He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft by the LA Kings after a solid four-year junior career with the OHL's Peterborough Petes.

Bruce was signed by the Bruins as a free agent in 1987 and spent the next four seasons in the Bruins organization. He was a solid plus 5 in in 1989 and compiled 35 PIM's in 10 playoff games.

We look forward to welcoming Bruce, the UMaine Alumni and Bruins Alumni to the Alfond Arena September 19th at 6pm for the Battle of the Bears Charity Fundraising game to benefit the Waldo County Firefighters Association fund for our collective personnel injured at the Robbins Lumber Explosion and Fire. We are excited to announce the UMaine Alumni roster includes Mark Anthoine!!!

A Lewiston, Maine native, Mark graduated from the University of Maine, Orono in 2014. He has a BA in Business Management. While at UMO, Mark was a 4 year member of the Black Bears hockey team. He served as an Assistant Captain during his senior year. Prior to joining BGA Financial, Mark played professional hockey for the Evansville Icemen and more recently, the Manchester Monarchs.

He is a member of the Kids and Claws committee of the Boys & Girls Club in Portland. (Bio From Uplift)

8 Days to Battle of the Bears puck drop!!!
We are excited to announce the Bruins Alumni roster includes Patrick Mullen!!!

Patrick is the son of Bruins Alumni Joe Mullen. He played collegiate hockey at the University of Denver. Following college, Patrick played 11 seasons of professional hockey with the AHL, ECHL, and throughout Europe. His hockey journey took him across the United States, Russia, Sweden, Germany, Austria, and the United Kingdom. He is currently involved with the Warrior for Life Fund through his connection with Boston Bruins Alumni and remains committed to programs that combine hockey with veteran resilience and recovery.

Thank you Patrick for your dedication and support to our military personnel and veterans!! We salute you!!

We are excited to announce the UMaine Alumni roster includes Scott Smith!!!

Scott was a solid defenseman playing for the UMaine Black Bears during the 1982-1986 seasons. Following his time at UMaine, he played in the AHL and IHL for the New Haven Nighthawks and the Colorado Rangers. After his professional career he made a decision to join the ranks of the Westbrook Fire Department. He found a love for the job and made a career of public service with the Scarborough Fire Department from 2000-2025 and also served with the Cape Elizabeth Water Extrication Team.

Thank you Scott for your dedication and service to our community!!

10 Days to Battle of the Bears puck drop!!!
We are excited to announce the UMaine Alumni roster includes Kent Salfi!!!

Kent was a member of the 1993 NCAA National Championship team. That team had a nearly perfect season with a remarkable record of 42-1-2. After spending four seasons in the University of Maine, Salfi played in Sweden for Mora IK where he spent two seasons. He then moved to Timmendorfer Strand of Germany for one season before moving to Austria and signed with VSV EC in 1996. In 1997 he had a brief spell in Italy's Serie A with Asiago, playing just three games for them before returning to VSV. He remained with the team until 2003 when he joined Black Wings Linz. He is a naturalised Austrian citizen and represents his adopted country at international level. He competed for Team Austria in the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.

10 Days to Battle of the Bears puck drop!!!
We are excited to announce the Bruins Alumni roster includes a couple of our own local First Responder representatives Old Town Fire Chief Kyle Milan and Holden-Eddington Lieutenant Chris Luce!!!

Chief Kyle Milan worked his way up the ranks and served as the Old Town Deputy Fire Chief prior to his promotion to Fire Chief. Before taking the spot of Deputy Chief in Old Town he spent 22 years in the Maine Air National Guard serving in Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, and most recently served as the Fire Chief at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia before retiring as the Military Fire Chief in Bangor in 2024. He is an incredible team leader who builds camaraderie and inspires his staff to continue learning and growing throughout their career. In addition to his leadership and service in public safety, he also gives back to the hockey community as a coach for the Maine JR Black Bears.

LT Chris Luce has been a full-time firefighter in Holden for 10 years. He is an invaluable member of the training staff sharing responsibility for many of the weekly training drills. He is an Advanced EMT and serves on the technical rescue team. Prior to Holden FD, Chris spent many years serving on the Orrington Fire Department.

Thank you Kyle and Chris for your years of dedication and service to our communities!! We can’t wait to see you out there on the ice!!

We are excited to announce the UMaine Alumni roster includes Niko Dimitrakos!!!

Niko was a member of the 1999 NCAA National Championship team. In his senior year, Dimitrakos led the team in points, with 20 goals and 31 assists in 43 games. While still a UMaine Black Bear, he was drafted by the San Jose Sharks, in the 5th round (155th overall) of the 1999 NHL entry draft. He played 12 seasons of professional hockey in the NHL, AHL, and Europe including several seasons with the San Jose Sharks and Philadelphia Flyers.

12 Days to Battle of the Bears puck drop!!!
We are excited to announce the Bruins Alumni roster includes Dave Shaw!!!

David Shaw was a steady and reliable blueliner during 16 NHL seasons with the Quebec Nordiques, Minnesota North Stars, Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins.

Shaw was a 1st round draft choice (13th overall) of the Nordiques in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. In 1983-84 he led the Kitchner Rangers to the 1984 Memorial Cup Championship and was a First Team OHL All Star.

A stay-at-home defender Shaw enjoyed his most productive NHL campaign with the Bruins in 1992-93 with 10 goals. In all, he played three full seasons with the Bruins (1992-1995.)

We are excited to announce the UMaine Alumni roster includes Jean Yves Roy!!!

Jean-Yves Roy excelled for the University of Maine hockey team from 1989 through 1992. He played in 124 games and scored a school record 108 goals and 95 assists for 203 points, which ranked fifth all-time at the time of induction. His 46 games played as a freshman was tied for the Maine record for games played in a season at the time of induction. He holds the record for game winning goals at 19. He led Maine to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and one Frozen Four appearance. In 1990 he was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, Hockey East All-Tournament Team, All-New England and All-American. In 1991 he was named All-New England, All-Hockey East, named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, an All-American and Hobey Baker Finalist. In 1992, Roy wa named All-Hockey East, All-New England, All-American and Hobey Baker Finalist. He also earned a silver medal with the Canadian Olympic Team.
