Happy National Athletic Training Month to Erica Marsters, ATC, OPE-C!

Erica has been a member of the Northern Light Sports Health team for 9 ½ years, providing athletic training services to Wagner Middle School, Reeds Brook Middle School, and the Penobscot Pioneers Girls Ice Hockey Team. She recently stepped into a new role as Secretary for the Maine Athletic Trainers’ Association, continuing to support and advance the profession.

Outside of work, Erica enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active outdoors through camping, golfing, and fishing, and adventuring in the woods or along the ocean with her dog, River Brown.

Thank you, Erica, for everything you do for your athletes and the community—we appreciate your commitment, care, and passion every day!

Today, the Maine Athletic Trainers Association recognized Coach Erica Marsters
with the 2025 Bill Cox Service Award! 🥇

This award is presented annually to an outstanding athletic trainer in the State of Maine who: Inspires others through his/her dedication, commitment and work ethic;
Maintains the highest level of professional service and standards of professional practice; Has provided outstanding service to their employer and to the profession of Athletic Training; And have, through their actions, helped to create a better environment for their colleagues, athletes/patients, and community.

There is no one more deserving!

We would like to take a moment to congratulate the three Senior Pioneers who were chosen to play in the Senior All-Star Showcase this past week, sponsored by the Maine HS Girls Ice Hockey Coaches Association.

Bella Saucier of Hampden Academy
Abbie Derosier of Brewer High School

Each has been with the Pioneers since it began four years ago. These girls have established a tradition of girls ice hockey that will last decades.

To be named KVAC Coach of the Year is an incredible honor — and Coach MacDonald credits the entire coaching staff for the Pioneers' success this season.

Meghan, Chris, Erica, Kim and Kayla: worked tirelessly to coordinate practices, adjust systems and lines, review film- often conversing late at night to make changes, participate in community events and engage fans with a fun social media presence... with the belief that girls hockey in Maine deserves energy, visibility, and excellence.

It’s about building something bigger than a record.

It’s about developing confident, resilient young women who know how to compete, how to lead, and how to carry themselves long after they leave.

Our players trusted us.
Our community supported us.
The culture we’ve worked so hard to build is being noticed.
