Steelhead fishing on the Clearwater River has been red hot and Russ and Mike have been catching limits daily, releasing all those over 28 inches as required. Ninety percent of those are B-run steelies and put up quite a fight. The 10 percent that are jacks (under 28 inches) can be harvested within the limits set by Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

Guides are experiencing plenty of fish in the the Clearwater with the fishing Red Hot.

With warm weather melting the mid-level snow and some rain, the Clearwater River has come up several feet. There are lots of fish out there, but until the river comes down and clears, we won't be out fishing. Keep an eye on this page for updates.

January and February were great months for steelhead fishing on the Clearwater River. Riverside Guide Service clients caught a lot of fish. March will be a good month too, until the spring thaw brings the Clearwater River up too much.

January and February should be some of the best months of the entire steelhead season. They came late this year and are frequenting specific areas of the Clearwater River.

Even after their long journey returning from the Pacific Ocean, they fight really hard. With all the times they have seen it, Russ and Mike are always amazed by how much power these fish still have in them. The big males are very aggressive.

Normally, bead fishing is best this time of year. This year, bobbers & jigs are on fire or use metallic plugs tipped with shrimp.

Recent rains have brought new steelhead up to the Orofino area. Fish that were hanging around Lewiston are moving up and catching has been good. Riverside Guide Service has been getting limits, including some really big B-run steelies in late December and early January.

Lots of steelhead are showing up in the Clearwater River at Orofino with the recent rains. Riverside Guide has been catching limits and having great fun out on the water.

2018 Idaho steelhead regulations are out. Harvest of one adult of any size is being allowed. The harvest season opens Oct. 15 on the Clearwater.

Fishing should be good to excellent. There are planty of fish coming in over Lower Granite Dam daily.
