A Great photo from Hanshi Patrick McCarthy who cleaned it up and added colour! This picture is of O Sensei Tsyoushi Chitose (Chinnen Ga) the founder of Chito-Ryu Karate-Do. O Sensei trained under Aragaki Seisho and Kyan Chotoku among other notables of that era. O Sensei combined what he had learned to create Chito-Ryu Karate-Do! A major pillar of Chito-Ryu is O Sensei’s idea to use Bogu (protectors) for high impact Kumite matches as O Sensei did not favour “Sundome” the pulling short of techniques. O Sensei along with his Kata and Kumite techniques encouraged Bunkai (analysis) of the Kata for the techniques meanings as well as two person Goshin Jutsu (Self Defence) techniques and Kobujutsu (ancient Okinawan weapons).
