The club got off the ground in 2001 as Dan Traver, a former collegiate runner at Cornell, began holding Monday and Wednesday evening runs from the Downtown Y. Under Dan’s guidance, the group quickly blossomed from its 5 or 6 hardcore “founding” members, to the 35 to 50 runners of diverse speeds, ages, and abilities that currently meet for multiple workouts each week. In August of 2003, Dan moved b
ack to his hometown of Chicago and turned the club over to Pat Marshall, a former Baldwin-Wallace College runner. In 2007 the club expanded from its traditional Monday/Wednesday format to include a Beginner’s Run on Tuesday evenings led by Teresa Calio, one of the top Master’s runners in Central Florida. Our running schedule is as follows: Mon - Group run (5-6 mile route) 6:00 p.m. Tue - Group run (5 mile route) 6:00 p.m., Wed - Track Workout at Howard Middle School 6:00 p.m., Thur - Group run (5 mile route) 6:00 p.m., Fri - Group run (5 mile route) 6:00 p.m.
