It's important to remember the following message:
Lately, a few of you have reached out to me, wondering if everything is okay since I haven't been as active on Facebook. Here's something I've come to learn about dealing with stress, anxiety, and depression - it's a lot like carrying around a handful of sand. When you first scoop it up, it feels almost weightless. But as time goes on, these tiny grains accumulate, and the weight becomes harder to bear. Life is made up of moments that either add to this weight or help us let go of some of it. For me, activities like spending time with my family and friends, exercising, training in martial arts, or even meticulously mowing the yard provide both challenge and a sense of achievement, allowing me to release some of that accumulated "sand."
As someone whose profession involves social media and interacting online, it's easy to accumulate more "sand" if you're not careful - especially for those of us who are highly sensitive and empathetic. We're heading into a time filled with divisiveness, hate, and anger, and I'm determined to engage in a healthy manner while being mindful of how much of this emotional weight I carry. On the other hand, I find joy in the moments - big or small - where I can let go of some of this burden and sometimes that even involves social media.
To those who genuinely care, please understand that there's no need to keep track of any score. Take all the time you need. Remember that taking care of yourself is like steering your own ship through the storm that lies ahead for all of us.
