Kids today are surrounded by more screens than any generation before them, and that isn't changing anytime soon.

What can change is how they spend an hour after school. Class gives them a stretch of time where nothing is competing for their attention except the child next to them and whatever game the coach just started.

That kind of undistracted play is getting harder to find, which makes it worth protecting.

Three different activities, three different ways flexibility shows up!

Freeze dance catches kids mid-stretch without them even realizing it. A bridge asks for strength and range of motion at the same time. Going from lying down to sitting up sounds simple until you watch a four year old actually work for it.

None of it looks like stretching. It just looks like class at Kido!

Football is the most-watched sport in the country, and every fall, kids everywhere start their own version of it, minus the playbooks and the pressure.

At this age it's less about the game and more about the basics underneath it: a toddler squaring up to kick a ball is working on balance and coordination, and the ones aiming for the hoop are learning to judge distance and follow through with their throw.

Half the fun is watching them miss, shake it off, and go again without a second thought. That willingness to just keep trying is what we're building, long before anyone cares about the score!

Some days you're leading a game of tag that's secretly teaching coordination. Other days you're the reason a child tries something new for the first time and finds out they love it. You'll be moving, laughing, and fully present with a group of kids who are watching how you show up.

If you're energetic, dependable, and genuinely enjoy being around kids, we'd love to hear from you. Experience coaching, teaching, or working in childcare is a plus, but the biggest thing we look for is someone who makes movement fun.

Parents ask us all the time which sport their kid should focus on. Our answer is usually: none of them yet!

Kids' bodies are still figuring out how to move, and every sport asks something different of them, soccer wants footwork, flag football wants tracking and catching, basketball wants hand-eye timing.

The more of those a child tries early, the more options their body has later, whichever sport they end up sticking with. That's the whole idea behind Kidokinetics introducing 29 different sports instead of just one!

By the end of class, the energy is different and kids who were shy an hour earlier are grabbing high fives and yelling right along with everyone else.

Our coaches build that in on purpose, a good class isn't just about the skills, it's about kids wanting to come back and do it again next week!

There's a moment that happens in almost every class...

A child hesitates, maybe steps back from the group, and a coach crouches down to their level instead of calling them back over. No big speech, just a quiet minute of attention until the kid decides to try it.

That's most of what coaching actually looks like here. Not the big wins, but the small redirects. Repeating a demo for the one kid who missed it. Cheering a swing and a miss the same way they'd cheer a hit. It adds up to something kids carry with them long after they've forgotten what sport they were playing that day.

Kids are naturally more flexible than adults, mostly because their joints haven't tightened up yet the way ours have. That sounds like good news, and it mostly is, but it's also exactly why the stretching part of class matters. Loose joints still need to learn how to move well, not just move a lot.

During warm-ups, our coaches work in the kind of stretching that actually shows up later on the field or court. High knees, arm swings, tuck jumps. It doesn't look like stretching in the way most parents remember it, but that's the point. Kids don't hold still for a 30 second hamstring stretch. They will do a tuck jump ten times in a row and think it's a game.

One easy way to see it in action at home: ask your child to touch their toes standing up, then try it again after a few minutes of jumping around. That's flexibility doing its job!

Golf doesn't get credit for being a full-body sport, but that's exactly what it is.

A good swing starts in the hips, moves through the core, and transfers weight through the legs before it ever gets to the arms. That's a lot of coordination for a child to figure out, and most of them are still working it out one swing at a time.

Being focused on muscular power at Kido, golf is a great example of it in action. Kids aren't just learning to hit a ball, they're building the strength and control they'll use in that same swing at 8, at 18, and long after that.

Most sports get outgrown.
This is one they can keep!
