*Day 5 and 6 Cooperstown Updates*
Day 5
Crush entered bracket play as the 43rd seed out of 104 teams. This put us in the 3rd round waiting on 89 vs 90th seeds winner vs 58th seed.
We ended up facing the 89th seed from Maryland and winning our first bracket game 9-6! The biggest highlight of the game was in the 4th inning where we scored 6 runs on 6 hits by Rocco, Mason, Landon, Jaxsen, Jeremy, and Antonio. Antonio’s was a 2 run Homer!
Our next opponent was a strong 22 seed from Pittsburgh. It was hard to keep up as they had 4 home runs against our pitchers. Crush had 3 of our own by Antonio, Rocco, and Jeremy! We took the L well and finished the tournament with our heads held high. The 22 seed ended up beating the 11th seed the next round before losing.
3-2 in pool play and 1-1 in bracket play. We exceeded our expectations and content with the outcome.
Tournament MVP - Jaxsen who batted .789 with 15 hits nearly doubling our next batter, 8 RBIs, accounted for 10 runs, 10 stolen bases and struck out only once all tournament. He also stepped on the mound for a 3 up 3 down inning.
Day 6
Closing Ceremonies - Received our rings and then watched fireworks.
Championship game - #4 Beaver Valley Red took the ship with a convincing win over the 15 seed from GA.
Last time on the 12u field for Crush. It’s been a great journey for these boys, but there’s more to come for them on the big field.
