MEMORIES!!!
This is a place I spent a lot of time at as a teenager. This hole used to hold 10-20 muskies, a pile of catfish, and a few walleye. It's a spot that's downstream from a man-made lake with a spillway. They would do fish rescues to save the muskie and walleye and bring them back to the main lake. Eventually, they made a barrier in this creek to prevent the muskies from going too far downstream and making the fish rescues easier. I haven't been back here in years, and the other day, I heard a rumor that the barrier had been washed away. Turned out it was just that, a rumor. But as I sat on the railroad bridge looking down on a hole that once brought me so much joy and excitement as a teen, I couldn't help but watch as the memories came flooding back. I could hear my friends and I laughing as we got tight on every fish. The adventure of taking some of these muskies a half mile back to the main lake. Those were the glory days. The days I was worry free. It was amazing the way I felt while sitting up on that bridge, reminiscing about all the good times. It brought me more peace than I could ever imagine. Watching the carp and quillback feed 30' below me while and absolutely beautiful symphony of birds spouted off around me just made time stop and made me appreciate life. What a beautiful world we live in.
