Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD) took a significant step Wednesday night toward the implementation of a new, state-of-the-art aquatics center. The CARD Board of Directors voted unanimously to enter the design phase primarily due to a generous land donation from local philanthropists Ken Grossman and Katie Gonser.

With infamous hot Chico summers and regional interest in aquatic activities, CARD staff and stakeholders are planning for a fun, affordable, and modern aquatics experience. The new aquatics center will include a range of features that meet the diverse needs of the Chico community with amenities and programming for all ages, ranges of health, levels of experience, and serve a variety of recreational interests, including aquatics sports programs. The new aquatics center is expected to open in fall of 2025.

Alright everybody Joe with Orland Rec has stated that this year is a no go for Hockey as of now 😢. Their funding has been cut drastically and staffing shortage has restricted their operational hours. We will check back in mid July to see if anything changes. Sorry to break the bad news, but I wanted you to be informed.
