Summer Tennis & Pickleball
Hi Sleepy Hollow Families,
Summer is officially here, and the courts are about to get busy! We've got a fantastic lineup of tennis and pickleball this season - something for the kids, something for the competitors, and plenty of casual, just-for-fun-play in between. Here's everything happening, with links to sign up. Read through, find what fits, and get your name in before spots fill.
Summer Compass League for Adults
With the USTA season winding down, we wanted to give our adult players a great way to keep competing through the summer - so we're launching a Summer Compass League. You can enter Men's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Singles, or Women's Doubles, and you'll arrange your matches against your designated opponents at times that work for both of you. Easy, flexible, and a great excuse to stay sharp.
The league runs on a compass-draw format, which is designed to keep everyone playing all season long. Instead of being knocked out after a single loss like a traditional bracket, players move through the draw based on results - winners head one direction, others move another (the classic "compass" points: East, West, North, South). The upshot: you keep getting matched against opponents at a similar level, every team is guaranteed all four of its matches, and the games stay competitive and fun from start to finish. We're aiming for 16 teams, with four matches per team across the season.
The entry fee is just $10 per person, and there are awards for the winning players in each event. Registration closes June 15th, so don't wait.

Summer Compass League
Junior Team Tennis for Kids
One of the true highlights of summer around here is our Lamorinda Junior Team Tennis (JTT) season, and it's back starting Tuesday, June 9 and running through mid-July. JTT is a fun, friendly team competition where our Sleepy Hollow kids represent the club against four neighboring clubs - OCC, MCC, Rancho Colorados, and Meadow. Players compete in both singles and doubles, earn points for the team, cheer each other on, and build real match experience in a supportive, low-pressure environment. It's where a lot of our kids fall in love with competing.
Teams are organized by age group:
10U (Tuesdays, 1:00pm),
12U (Tuesdays, 2:00pm),
13+ (Tuesdays, 3:00pm),
and Open (Thursdays, 1:00pm).
Matches are played either here at Sleepy Hollow (home) or at the host club (away), and we'll share the full schedule with everyone who signs up.
One important note: because JTT matches are played without a coach on every court, players need to be able to serve and keep score on their own. If you're not sure your child is ready, just reach out - I'm happy to help you figure out the right fit.
The participation fee is $60 per player for the season, billed to your Captyn account once you've submitted the availability form.

Tuesday Night Pickleball Drop Ins (13 and up)
The fastest-growing sport at the club gets its own weekly night - and it starts TOMORROW, Tuesday, June 2! These are casual, social evenings of round-robin play, perfect whether you're a seasoned dinker or brand new to the paddle. Come for the games, stay for the laughs (and maybe a little friendly banter). All levels welcome, ages 13+.

Summer Slam Tennis for Adults
Our Summer Slam Tennis Event Series kicks off this Thursday, June 4 — a recurring series of fun, social tennis events to keep your game going and your summer full of match play. It's a great way to meet other members, mix up your usual hitting partners, and enjoy some easygoing competition. Whether you're looking to sharpen up or just have a good time on court, there's a spot for you.

Summer Slam Registration
A QUICK NOTE ON PICKLEBALL & SUMMER SLAM
For both the Tuesday Night Pickleball and the Summer Slam series, all players MUST register on Captyn first - that's how we know you're in. From there, we'll set up a separate WhatsApp group for each week so we can confirm exactly who's coming and get everyone organized. Think of Captyn as your official sign-up and WhatsApp as the week-to-week coordination.
