Should have lead the shark-themed, unhinged birthday wish list w this pic of my grandpa who wore an actual shark tooth necklace every day. Along with a giant, gold chai.
Swipe for annual bday picture outside Bernie’s, our little family tradition. Man, would he have loved to meet (spoil!) those kids!

Am I accidentally cliquey? I wrote all about it, after a conversation with a friend. You might be surprised at my conclusion. Bonus: summer camp pics from the 90s. How cute were we?! Party Cut link in bio and stories 🎉🍕

The last couple of weeks on Party Cut have been a little heavy (synogogue attack, Z’s yahrzeit)
So this week I wrote about:
- Learning mahj on my grandma’s set from a tough but kind teacher
- Arranging flowers
- A couple of pairs of track pants
- some new, good books and my favorite book whisperers

Happy images from Temple Israel: me sneaking an auntie kiss at my nephew’s bar mitzvah, Sydney’s baby naming, Rabbi Loss marrying us under the chuppah. Not pictured: when I asked Rabbi Jen if she happened to be doing hospital rounds, could she check on my dad. “On my way,” she replied. (She was not doing hospital rounds that day. She dropped everyhing to go.) And, of course, one of the hearts of the whole place, Kari Provizer.
So many people have sent nice messages, and it’s hard to put into words how it felt, an attack on a place so near and dear to my heart. I thank god for the result.
And people have asked what they can do. You can donate to the fundraisers to rebuild the temple, directly on the site and the gofundmes for the heroic security team. But another thing you can do is to loudly stand up against Jewish hate. You can say you know it’s wrong, you can stop micro aggressions when you hear them. You can say that you know Jewish people are not the actions of their government, and nobody deserves to be scared to drop their kids off at school, to gather to pray.

Funny timing: I wrote a love letter to the two places I call home the same week as the terrorist attack at my home synagogue in Detroit. Everyone is safe. It’s a good one this week. Link in bio. And yes the water is actually that shade of blue 🩵🩵🩵

For anyone who’s ever overanalyzed a text, felt weird in a group chat, or wondered if a friendship shifted without you noticing… this is for you.

After working together as coach and client for many years, we sat down and talked about adult female friendships: the the good, the bad, the ugly, the sparkle: all of it!

Sharing a few takeaways here. The full conversation is on Substack. Link in our bios.

Comment your thoughts. Or should we take your questions …. live? 😉
